Do the people they arrest etc have to give their permission for the police film footage to be shown on TV?

Or is it only allowed on TV if they are charged/found guilty?

I was watching one last night and though what if they are innocent and are now on TV?

I often wonder how ethics and consent work on the fly on the wall type documentaries like this.

I'd hate to be on TV if I was ever stopped by the police etc..

I took ds to Kings A&E and they were filming 24hrs in A&E they asked if I give consent I declined (due to work)

Not sure about those being arrested I would assume they are informed as if innocent they have the right for their arrest not to be public entertainment

Years ago my single friend popped into Family,Planning Clinic for morning after pill, she'd had a busy night. A documentary was under way 'Would you like to be on telly?'. As if. I've noticed that those who have been found guilty and sentenced appear on the cops tv programmes. I dont know who owns that data but if no charges, or not guilty, an expensive law suit would be likely to follow for traducing someone's good name if permission wasn't sought from the suspected offender.
