Cashmere

Obviously first world problem, no it's not the worst thing going on right now etc.

Does anyone actually keep cashmere clothing long term? It's the sort of thing that people think will be all luxurious, then I realised what a PITA it is to wash. Hand wash only, ended up just washing the armpits. I originally bought it from a charity shop and ended up giving it away to another charity shop.

Was having a discussion at another charity shop last week and the woman who worked there was saying the same thing, that people try it out and end up giving it away as it's so hard to take care of.

I also bought a pure cashmere jumper at a charity shop. I think the previous owner might have shrunk it as the size label is about two sizes bigger than my normal size, but it fits me just right.

I have a handwash/woolmark cycle on my washing machine, so I do wash it in the machine, along with other natural-fibre jumpers. I think I wash on 20° or 30° and use the lowest spin cycle. I also use liquid wash for woollens.

No harm has come to my cashmere jumper (yet...)

I wash it in the machine on cold but I do think it shrinks a bit, no idea how.

It also runs into holes easily.

But it's lovely ☹️ so I keep getting it

i only buy cashmere that can be machine washed and i keep it in lakeland plastic clothes bags so doesnt get moth damage. And dry flat. Never had any problems.
