After years of pain, breath so bad I wouldn't leave the house some days and low self esteem because I was so paranoid about it I booked a bloody appointment. The kick start being some pretty invasive medical care, as I was lying there surrounded by medical staff being treated to the stuffed turkey treatment I thought to myself if I can have my arse in the faces of many strangers glad im wearing a mask so they cant smell my disgusting breath I can get myself sorted out. Even at that moment my primary thought was my teeth.

So I booked it, took out a dental plan for £14 a. Month which includes a check up and hygiene clean thing every 3 months.

After all that, all that being worried and stinking the room out at times ive been. And it was fine, I need one extraction, a tiny filling and a good clean. And that will be fine too (( I know ive been extremely lucky, after years of neglecting them and myself through bads of poor mental health when theyve been lucky to see a toothbrush. As a child I didn't brush them at all. . I think Ive inherited strong teeth and im not really a fan of sugary foods which will help))

And im going to have the treatment. And lets face it that can't be any worse than various people probing various things up my arse now can it?

The dentist was fine. It's his job to look in dirty mouths, if he's judging well he shouldn't be in that job (( dentist was lovely although I was resigned to my fate by that point))

Am whats the point of this thread you ask yourself? Well if youre like me and youve suffered pain, people stepping back when talking to you and all the other crap that comes with having crap teeth just get it booked.. Honestly it's not worth all the upset when it can be sorted out relatively easily.

Brilliant OP!!!

Thank you for that OP - I am terrified of the dentist - I have heart palpitations every time i lay on that couch. The cost is also a lot for what I need to do and that puts me off as well so the two issues together mean I only go when I have pain, which has not been a great plan as my back teeth are in an awful state. And my front ones have moved because I have had about 4 taken out for decay.

Well done for sorting yours out!

Well done op what a great thread! Hopefully it inspires many others to force themselves into getting it over with.

The dentist isn't just important for your teeth and gum health but for your general health too. Bad oral health particularly impacts heart health.
