Hi just want everyone’s opinion on what you think will happen to all the nhs staff who do not want the vaccine and if they really fire thousands of staff members and cause further staff shortages..

In my opinion I think it’s very unfair that staff have to choose to have a vaccine or lose their jobs that they’ve worked hard for. I work in a hospital and from what I’ve witnessed many many staff if not all who have had all 3 or just 2 vaccines are still getting COVID.

They won't necessarily get fired. There is an extension of 3 months after april and then they start the redeployment process to a non patient facing role. I have a colleague refusing the vaccine and they have read the small print

@addictedtotheflats oh right ok and I’m sure there will be staff shortages because of this, so what do you think will happen then?

Not a lot to be honest. The amount unvaccinated will soon be replaced by the droves of international nurses who will have passed their OSCE's and have NMC registration by April. My Trust is something like 96% vaccinated so the number of registered staff within that won't be that many.

I just want to hear everyone’s honest opinion on the matter without anyone being rude to one another and no judgement from anyone

@addictedtotheflats yes Within my trust many international nurses have started and there are many more coming

If I'm honest I can't see them getting rid of anyone. So much can change in 4 more months and if deaths stay low I think they will back track. The amount of patients in hospital actually requiring treatment for covid is relatively low. Its the mass testing and incidental covid positives which are giving a inflated number. I work in A&E and the amount of people who test positive who are there for a completely different complaint is staggering. Trouble is they all need cohorting which increases the need for "hot" wards

I dont know what will happen really. Its about 20percent of our staff.
