My dinner tonight was mediocre and I'd like to complain.
@GoGoGretaDoll they are sooooo good... right combination of gooey middle and crisp edge... sweet, but not too sweet... vanillaey and chocolatey... they don't scrimp on the choc chips. And there are 8 in a bag.Grin
@BeyondMyWits I love those cookies! I undercook them so they're really gooey and cookie dough likeGrin

My dinner was a surprising hit with both my husband and I. I made a pork satay stir fry as pork was cheap and I added tenderstem broccoli and red onion. It was delicious!

Larabananas · 12/01/2022 20:04

Mine was surprisingly tasty.. yesterday’s stew covered with Asda pastry with roast veg 😋

BigYellowHat · 12/01/2022 20:05

Had really big fancy plans for tonight. Turned into jacket potato with leftover bolognaise 🥱 🥱

Joined4this · 12/01/2022 20:05

My sympathies OP Flowers. I often feel cheated that I’ve wasted all the day’s calories on something I don’t even like. What a travesty!

Enjoy your relaxing evening

wintersdreams · 12/01/2022 20:06

Mine was disappointing too, I had left over chilli that was mediocre yesterday so not entirely sure what I expected this evening Grin

Never mind, the gin is helping Gin

jay55 · 12/01/2022 20:06

I had a delicious stir fry, but I'm starving again now.....

NothingIsWrong · 12/01/2022 20:07

My husband made prawn and chorizo frittata. I would complain as it was rubbery but it seems churlish as he cooked AND washed up...

Lulooo · 12/01/2022 20:08

Mine wasn't mediocre but was a dissapointment. We thought we'd get a takeout from a new palce and couldn't find it then took a wrong turning twice and got stuck in traffic. The whole trip added an hour to our commute home.
Got home and realised DH had brought the wrong soup and this one was shite. Not just that's he'd brought only one portion of the main meal. Plus no salad that I was really looking forward to.
He offered to go back and pick more up but I faked being satisfied and we both ended up eating less and insisting we were fine so the other would eat more. Then when he went I had a cup of tea, some jammy Dodgers and a couple of lindor to fill me up and now I feel like sugar overlaid on a half empty stomach.

So that's me.

I had a homemade Chinese Style Chicken Curry last night and it was lovely. Had enough left for today and was looking forward to it…we all know curries are better on day 2!

It was bloody horrible. Chicken was tough and sauce was tasteless….very disappointed 😔

NalPolishRemover · 12/01/2022 20:15

Mine was disappointing too! We had salmon in foil parcels with ginger, spring onions, chilli, slivers of red pepper, coriander & soy sauce. Ran out of rice as thought we had a new bag but we didn't so had steamed new potatoes which were watery & overcooked & overcooked sugar snaps as dd rang me & I was distracted at the very moment I should have been dishing up.

I REALLY want something sweet & indulgent but resisting as trying to be good

TigerKat · 12/01/2022 20:23

Mine too - I’d bought some of those Heck posh nuggets as wanted an easy dinner (Ofsted in last two days) and they were vile 😖

BoredZelda · 12/01/2022 20:25

I think that's one of the biggest problems I had when I was single. I often find when I'm cooking a meal then eating it, it wasn't quite what I wanted. But if someone else cooks it, it's much better. Now my husband does a fair chunk of the cooking, it happens less.

Having said that, the meal he cooked tonight was very meh. Over cooked and tasteless. Although I won't complain to him as I could have cooked if I'd been that bothered!

spongedog · 12/01/2022 20:26

@DramaAlpaca

I had a below par dinner yesterday so I feel your pain.

I was on my own for dinner and decided to make egg fried rice to use up some left over rice, but put two eggs in when one would've been plenty.

I ended up with a bowl of ricey scrambled egg Confused Grin

How was "ricey scrambled egg"? (As I feel if I were to try egg fried rice - this is exactly how it would turn out!)
GlitterSquid · 12/01/2022 20:27

Same. Very meh.

Why are we all putting up with mediocre meals! We should rally. We deserve better!

ashorterday · 12/01/2022 20:27

Haven't you got the ingredients for a mug cake? Flour sugar oil and cocoa powder?

MoiraNotRuby · 12/01/2022 20:30

I had fruity cheese (leftover from Christmas) on stale nan bread and grilled for not quite long enough. Even more disgusting than it sounds.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/01/2022 20:34

I made a sort of frittata, baked in the oven, to use up various ageing vegetables, and some coleslaw. The coleslaw includes red cabbage and the whole thing has turned pink, which is a bit weird, but it tasted OK. Would have had a better texture if I'd bitten the bullet and finely shredded the cabbage, carrots and apple on the chopping board instead of grating them in the food processor, but there we are. The frittata was all right, but nothing special.

My husband was a bit dubious about the whole thing, largely because of the pink coleslaw, but said thoughtfully after a while 'Actually, this is ...' 'Adequate?' I said. 'Oh no', he said. 'A notch above adequate, I think.'

(I did a lot better last night. Lentil bolognese with spaghetti and Parmesan. It tasted great and I will make it again. Had the leftovers for lunch today.)

lorrainecleaver · 12/01/2022 20:42

My prawn noodles were very average and strangely tasteless. Tastebuds are hit and miss still after covid. Making up for it with a large bar of Lindt chocolate which strangely tastes as good as ever.

DramaAlpaca · 12/01/2022 20:51

@spongedog it wasn't as bad as it sounds actually. I fry chopped spring onions and a bit of fresh chilli, stir in the cold cooked rice, season with soy sauce then stir in an egg per portion of rice. Only I thought there was more rice than there was... so it looked like scrambled egg.

merryhouse · 12/01/2022 20:56

Mine would have been delicious but it was only half warm. I'd had the oven on for an hour, too - no idea why things were so different today.

RedHot22 · 12/01/2022 20:56

How frustrating!

May I add to your sorrow by saying that mine was delicious. Leek and lentil bake - yum

Windinmyhair · 12/01/2022 20:57

I just had leftover meatball pasta. It was meh yesterday. It was more meh today, but needed eating and i won't waste it.

Mindymomo · 12/01/2022 21:05

I made peanut butter chicken and rice for DS, he said it was lovely, I’m not keen on it so had chicken pasta with tub of sauce, it was OK, but not great. Yoghurt for dessert was nice.
