What would you do with DD in the week before c-section?

So my daughter is at nursery at school and my c section is currently booked for the week after half term. We are in a dilemma about what to do with her in that half term week with covid in mind.

We need to avoid at all costs my husband getting Covid (obviously I don't want to get it either but they'll still deliver baby even if I have it) as it would mean him not being able to be there for the birth. We therefore have 2 options really for half term:

  1. lock down as a family for the week. this means it would be really rather boring for daughter but would avoid the risk of getting covid.

  2. send daughter to holiday camp for a couple of days (some of her friends will be going too) so she can have fun while I get some needed rest before the c-section.

What would you do??

Surely 'lots of activities' is a bit challenging when you're 9 months pregnant? I certainly found that. I'd litter locally at the park and places you can sit when you need, and not rush around exhausting yourself.

I had something similar, and I did a plan with something for every day, like a house activity- crafts, baking, new board game, and a list of new movies/tv episodes that I'd hidden. That way I didn't have to engage my brain- all the thinking was done and we could do something nice and then flake, or I could ignore the plan completely and then flake. Flaking on the couch was all I wanted to do at that stage so I was glad I had something thought of in advance.

We had this exact scenario last month. Had ELSC booked for the 2nd jan. We planned to spend the week before mooching around parks, going to castles, having hot chocolate, baking, painting etc.

Instead my waters broke at home on the 22nd and I had DS a few hours later!!! So things may surprise you!!

That’s exactly why I asked @Curiousmouse because I’m worried I’ll be so exhausted at that point (I’ll be 37 weeks, c section is at 38 weeks) as I’ve had a difficult pregnancy with several underlying illnesses that have flared up. So yes trying to think of things we can do that don’t involve much energy from me is probably pretty important?

That’s a good idea @Sweetmotherofallthatisholyabov having a plan for each day, thank you!

Cooking with your toddler
Make play dough
Watch a film when you're tired
Get them to help you clean up-they love that

Thanks, what will be will be, but I was so scared about going through an ELSC alone if DH had caught covid, so totally understand your feelings!

My c section is in 2 weeks and we are definitely taking our 3 year old out of preschool.

Sunrise or sunset at a beach with hot chocolate in a flask! Or top of a hill (that you can drive to)?
