Help! Can anyone recommend a complete Excel course from beginners?

I've started trying to teach myself Excel. I've been trying some free resources, but I think what I need is a comprehensive course from beginner upwards.

Preferably in book form, but I could also do it online. I'm on a low income so not too expensive if possible.

I'd really appreciate some personal recommendations because the selection is dazzling!

Thanks

I taught myself.

I started off trying to follow a course but really struggled with making sense of it.

I found the only way to learn, which may not be the same for you, was to have a project, and learn how to do the things I wanted to do as I went along. Even the things I have learned, I still have to go back and look it up again if there is a month or two between using that particular formula.

So I set up a budget sheet, an energy sheet (recording daily meter readings), wines, recipes, songs. None of which I really need (the budget one is handy though). It means I can make sense of and understand what is happening.
I add graphs and charts where possible and manipulate them to give me different information.

I know people learn differently but I think when the information is relevant it has more meaning for you, and unless you want to use it in a specific job, many of the functions are just too complicated to remember.

Maybe it's just me though.

When I am looking up something I find microsoft's own lessons some of the easiest to follow for most things and I think they have a free online course as well

ECDL. When I did it I was given a manual which gave instructions and also practice exercises.

If you're in Wales you might be able to get it funded via a local FE college.

Thank you both, I will look into these.

Search for Leila Gharani beginner Excel on You Tube.

I've watched lots of her more advanced stuff and I find she is really good at breaking it all down and has a nice voice. (There seem to be far too many monotone American men producing excel tutorials on YouTube!)

Also, if there's something specific that you want to do - like a budget, then search online for a template as it might be easier to have something to start from which you can tailor to you own needs as your excel knowledge grows.
