The last two weeks 10YODS hasn't quite been himself, quite lethargic and irritable but I just put it down to January/back to school blues. The last week though he's woken up from heavy nosebleeds three times as well as sleeping 11 hours a night and saying he feels out of breath.
Obviously I've googled and terrified myself it's leukaemia. I'm going to call the GP as soon as it opens and ask for him to be seen. Would it be better to take him to a&e? I'm guessing probably not but my GP will most likely not see him face to face. Any advice and reassurance would be gratefully received as I've scared myself sick.

I've actually just remembered that last week he was sneezing excessively, he said his teacher even commented on it. He's stopped sneezing now though.

I’ve used the Juno app a couple of times recently when I wanted to speak to a Dr but couldn’t get through to the gp. Think it’s free for the first month so you could always sign up and cancel within a month…

Definitely get medical advice ASAP. Won't the dehumidifiers dry the air? The dryness can cause nose bleeds and lining of nose to be more sensitive. My son has had nightly nose bleeds and we were asked to use humidifiers or leave a bowl of water near the radiator. Regarding lethargy I would also request a blood test to rule out vitamin D deficiency. Good luck!

We've got an appointment for a blood test as well as some cream to use in his nose, so we'll have to see. We also were just notified there's a case of Covid in his class. Don't really want to send him back while he's sick with something else! They also want us to do an lft every day for a week but I can't risk setting his nose off again. Nightmare!

Oh you poor thing! I was terrified DS2 had leukaemia a few years ago. I'd noticed his sheets were wet in the mornings and had googled it.

Good luck with the blood tests. I worked with a woman who had frequent nose bleeds, and was also anaemic. I think the bleeds caused the anaemia. Anaemia would explain the lethargy. It's exhausting. You just want to go back to bed about 3pm. You get palpitations and breathless too. I had it and honestly thought I was dying.

Good luck.

Dd had the sneezes last week, I thought it was covid as that’s how it started when her sister had it but she got a negative PCR so must have been some weird cold or allergy.

Is he bleeding from both nostrils though? Did the LFT, can you use the other side? That's what I have to do.

Yes both bleed (but more one than the other) he already has cream I need to put up his nose three times a day so I'm sure that will affect the result anyway. He seems a little brighter this afternoon but still not himself. Will just have to wait and see what the blood tests say now.

You can swab the tonsils for an lft. Some doctors recommended it when Omicron emerged as that's where it's more likely to live.
