Hi All

I think i'm gonna sell my flat in S London.
Does anyone know have any recommendations/ avoidations[?] for a conveyancing solicitor you've used in the last year?

Its a looong time since I last sold anything. Since then google's popped up which ostensibly answers every question, but how well I wonder. E.g. is there a machine/ little man somewhere operating the automated keyboard algorithm to describe how [positive adjective] [a person] in [business name] served their [generic and unpindownable] need. And all in record time too!

Also what questions should I be seeking answers on when reviewing solicitors? All advice gratefully received.

It'd be nice to find out:

how many similar cases a partnership has undertaken in say the last 3 years - I asked 1 outside of London. They refused to answer. Luckily I hadn't formed a contract.

some are obscure about what their legal work will be ie some ask you to commit to their fees without specifying what'll undertaken in advance. That was a no to them.

Additionally is there a list of complaints against solicitors anywhere. While I accept every business will get some form of complaint now and then, you'd like to check, your fave choice isn't writ large on the numbers of complaints received, especially in the area of law I'm interested in, conveyancing

Also, are there any advantages/ disadvantages of picking a solicitor close to my to be for sale property so to speak e.g. is solictor overchummy with local estate agents, council...where while sellers come and go, local services persist...

Many thanks and any other thoughts welcome too.

Thank you :-)
