Has the pandemic hastened your retirement or pushed it back?

I know quite a few people who've called it a day during the pandemic, often people whose already stressful jobs became more so as a result (three headteachers!) But I also know people who thought they'd give up about now, but now they're working from home have decided to stay a bit longer.

I also know one man who'd arranged to go to 3 days pw as part of a phased retirement, but has put that off for now because he didn't see the point of having more free time to spend in lockdown and/or unable to travel.

I'm at an age where I could go now or could work for another 15 years (or more) and I am finding myself increasingly less motivated, but still not quite ready to stop. I think the change to motivation is in large part due to the changes caused by the pandemic.

Both. Retired from NHS as it was so bloody awful, but now it is even worse and I can't abandon colleagues,so back working two days a week.

I'm considering it. I'm 55 and currently working part-time. I was furloughed and then went back. My DS is still at school and I would like to spend more time being mum and less being an employee.

I have 3 friends who all took redundancy, they were except one all 55 plus so could claim their pensions immediately. The one that didn’t had just inherited close to 300k from a relative. I have also had 1 friend retire early and have 2 who are taking early retirement next year. All except one have defined benefits pensions and her an her DH are incredibly well off.
