Pizza Express Party

MrsH73 · 10/01/2022 13:51

My DD wants a pizza Express party, for her 9th birthday. Just wondered, apart from making the Pizza and eating it, what else do the children do? It will be for about 12 children.

Not sure what the children do, but the parents use it as an alibi.

My daughter had one a few years ago. They made doughsticks and had a tour of the kitchen. They all got locked in the freezer for 30 seconds and loved it. Then made the pizzas, did cake and then ate the pizzas and ate the cake!

Grin @MrsRobinsonsHandprints
especially the ones that 'can't sweat' (bet he is now...)

Sorry OP I've never held on been to a kids party at a PE.
It would be cool if they got to help make pizzas but even if ok in normal times prob not in covid times?

Westfacing · 10/01/2022 13:58

There used to be a PE near me. On passing you would see the occasional pizza-making party - a long table with kids rolling dough, etc.

WimpoleHat · 10/01/2022 13:59

They do just make the pizzas and eat them - but they seem to have a lot of fun. My DD had one a few years ago and it was really well organised.

What did they do whilst the Pizza was cooking?

Same thing you do when waiting for your food order in a restaurant. Chat, do the kids stationary pack etc. PE pizza cooks incredibly quickly as it's thin based

My kids have been to a couple of these. Basically it works well if you have a fairly well behaved group of kids who will sit and chat or colour for a short time while waiting for the pizzas. It was a nightmare poor choice IMO for DS2's friend's party, as the kids who had been invited were a pain in the arse group of livewires.

Westfacing · 10/01/2022 15:13

You can contact them for details - seems primary school groups can visit too!

My DD had one very recently.

It was fantastic and excellent value for money - lots of the parents said what a great party it was after.

On arrival they all get greeted with juice and get an apron and sit down and design their own chef hats, then they go up and make the pizza and the party host did that dough twirly thing which they all loved. They choose their toppings and pizza goes in overn. They then sat back down and had dough balls and crudites. Then the pizza was ready so ate that, then they had cake.

Was a fab 2hrs.

What did they do whilst the Pizza was cooking?

Plait ponies, helicopter lessons. That sort of thing.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 10/01/2022 15:25

I thought this was going to be about prince Andrew Grin

But yes OP my DC have been to a few of these - they do enjoy them but it does depend on the age and behaviour of the group. I have to say I never saw one with a kitchen tour and my DC went to at least 3 of these between them. It’s just making the pizza, playing with the dough, they all get a hat, they do the colouring sheets etc, then they eat their pizza and have cake.

Mama1980 · 10/01/2022 15:28

Ds's several years ago was pizza making, food quiz, dough shaping, tour of kitchen, then they ate the pizza and cake. It was really well organised.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 10/01/2022 17:46

My DD did it for her 7th birthday and myself and DH ended up eating on our own on the restaurant we were that redundant 🤣
They made their pizzas and played some games. We did the cake then it was done.

Well the alternative is doing a proper party at your house, with 4 Colin the Caterpillar cakes joined together, a hidden £1 coin and undiluted squash.
They’ll go mental.

We did this for a couple of parties we've held for our DDs.

They've worked well. It does help if you've got a group that join in activities in a fairly calm way.

They do some colouring (I think colouring their own chefs hats), play a few games, make their pizza then eat their pizza.

All the kids seemed to enjoy it a lot. For one group, where my own DD falls into the category of not being particularly calm or sticking at activities, I took a few things like temporary tattoos and balloons that I could model into dogs, to keep them occupied when there were any gaps.

It was in fact that Pizza Express but I didn't spot any royalty lurking about. I was probably too busy making balloon dogs. 😂

Is this going to be at Pizza Express in Woking?

My DS went to one and I'm afraid the kids were pretty bored - they were a bit younger though, aground 7?

Arrived, sat down, given chef hats to colour in and an activity sheet thing, server brought a little pizza base each and some toppings, kids put toppings on pizza, pizza was taken way to be cooked while kids waited, kids ate pizza.

That was it. The end.

PlinkPlankPlunk · 11/01/2022 13:32

We had one I think in year 2. I thought we might need additional things to do but not really - it was quite a calm group and they all were happy to focus on it. They did their hats (I also took stickers, tattoos and glitter gel for them) then rolled their dough and put their toppings on. While the pizzas were cooking they were served dough balls, and then the pizzas were ready. Then a big Happy Birthday performance, then ice cream (choose own toppings) then party bags and home. It was excellent!
