What weird thing has happened to me in middle age that means by pyjamas are sucked up my bum crack every night?

And what are my alternative?
I've always worn cotton/brushed cotton traditional pyjama bottoms and a t-shirt but these days I'm waking up in the night with a wedgy! No idea why, and can't quite see myself in a nightie. Any tips?

Cotton knickers.

I don’t wear pyjama bottoms without wearing a pair of knickers.

Man's pj bottoms. Much more comfortable and you may even get pockets.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 09/01/2022 09:13

I wish I knew. I have perfectly good pjs for years. And then one day they started riding up to my knees when I’m in bed. Waking up really comfortable with all the fabric round my knees.
Why. Now I can only wear pjs with elastic bottoms.

perhaps you need to size up?

my weight fluctuates a bit and its when this starts happening to me I know I need to cut back on the pies for a while.

Doubledoorsontogarden · 09/01/2022 09:14

I’ve always chilled out in pj’s but for bed worn a nightshirt. Might that work? Are you more stressed than usual? Making you move more in your sleep?

polkadotpjs · 09/01/2022 09:14

@pastabest this is likely why mine do it and I hadn't realised. Oops. I've just started sleeping in the top only 😂

DrNo007 · 09/01/2022 09:14

Nightie. I find pyjamas horribly uncomfortable.

FindingMeno · 09/01/2022 09:15

Different bed sheets?
I know with certain material bed sheets my pj's get all twisty.

LowlyTheWorm · 09/01/2022 09:16

More fat round your middle? So the bottoms are pulled up more?

LubaLuca · 09/01/2022 09:17

It's definitely to do with them being a bit too small. Bitter experience tells me this.

Jennalong · 09/01/2022 09:18

You need a larger size .

MacNTosh · 09/01/2022 09:22

The rise is too short for you. It’s the curve that runs from the centre front waistband between the legs and up the back to the centre back waistband. You could size up although they may be too big elsewhere, try a different brand or try men’s that have more space in the front for tackle.

tunainatin · 09/01/2022 10:05

Thanks for the replies, definitely can't do knickers at night, it makes me feel claustrophobic. It may be the fat issue! Not really put on weight but have noticed there is more fat on my middle than there used to be! I have one pair which are a bit too big so I'll try with those and see if that makes a difference.
Then the dilemma-keep the small ones to motivate me to lose the fat, or get bigger ones? 😬

Just get bigger ones - my knickers and pjs are all a size larger than outer clothes. More comfortable.
