Driving test?

I feel so sorry for teenagers ( and anybody) wanting to take their driving tests. Have been paying since July for my dd to have lessons but there are NO tests for the foreseeable future to be had.
Somebody mentioned that there is an app ( payable) which monitors cancellations and emails you accordingly.
Has anybody had experience of this? The app I have found is called Driving Test Cancellations 4all. Has anybody used them? Are they reputable?
At this rate I will have paid out thousands ( like many parents) with no hope of an imminent test.

The backlogs seem to be area dependent. We have been very lucky in our area Ds turned 17 last February, found an instructor in April when things opened back up, it took a bit of time on the app to book a theory test but got one in July, as soon as he had his theory pass code I went online and booked a practical test in November which was about the right time for him as he'd had around 25 lessons. His friends have all managed similar timelines in our area, with some having also had 2nd practical tests too after failing.

Have you tried other test centres a little further away? We are fortunate we have two test centres around 20 miles from us in opposite directions so they have nearby a choice of two. Or if she can do her test in your car try even further away? Ds only drove in the area his test was in twice before his actual test as it was too far to go to in a normal lesson.

I've used this app paid about17.99 and it bumped my test date for November unfortunately I failed because of how nervous I was so will be using it again when I rebook

I used two apps, a few years ago to do the same. Think it was about £5 each. One was good sending me a dozen or so text notifications for the first two weeks but you had to be lightening quick to book in the cancelled spot, the other only sent about 2 notifications in total.

I did write off the money thinking it was a risk but both did at least send some notifications.

My son used Testi app which was good and gave him a much earlier test date. You have to be very quick when you get the notifications through though.

He took his test in our own car which really helped as he didn't have to check whether his instructor was available before he booked the test. If you book a test, you can cancel a few days in advance with no penalty.

I've been using the Driving Test Now! App and it does work.
I would say without using an app, it's almost impossible to get a realistic date for a driving test.

Hi have test Gennie and it works. Was told to book a test at any test centre, once you have a reference it finds a test for you at your preferred centre. You receive a text and you have 10 min to confirm and it books for you

DS used Testi app and just passed at his fifth attempt! His whole learning experience took over two years and was punctured by lockdowns and repeated self isolation. The timing was dreadful. It's cost a fortune.

I used Speedy Tests.
Once your daughter has reached a good standard of driving you should stop lessons until you get a test date. Then have lessons every day leading up to the test.
