Tell me about a holiday in Yorkshire

Would love to go to Yorkshire this year, we have a week at beginning of April. Myself, DP, DD (16) and two small dogs.

We like the sea, but also love scenery and moorland walks. Not fussed about the weather, a rainy day beachcombing is a perfect day for us.

We have decided on a cottage, either a village or country, not town centre.

Just really not sure where is nice for a bit of a mix. Whitby is a place we'd like to visit but beyond that I'm clueless

Whitby and places along that bit of coast are absolutely perfect for your needs.
There's really no better place to go beachcombing, whether it's fossil hunting nearby, or picking up bits of pottery on the beach at Whitby itself. We go regularly, and my (now adult) daughters spend much of their time fossilling and beach combing, just as they did as kids..
