Have I done enough? Can I block buyer now?

I sold my old iPad at the beginning of this week. It was listed with its age, spec, lots of pictures etc. it was priced slightly low as I wanted rid quickly.

A lady messaged and asked some questions. Asked if it worked and I said yes. She decided to buy it and I took it to her house as she doesn’t drive. I handed it over and offered to give a quick demo, which she declined. I turned it on and showed her it worked and she said, that’s great, I’ll get my son to set it up.

It was in good working order when I handed it over.

The last two days she has messaged saying the volume buttons aren’t working. Now I know they do as it was in use the week before I sold it (had a new one for Christmas). I sent her a couple of links to YouTube videos of what to do if the volume buttons don’t work. She replied, she didn’t understand them (I don’t think English is her first language). I then sent another video that was a bit less techy and suggested she try that. Came back again saying she couldn’t get it to work and could I come over and show her how to do it.

Now I know it was working when I delivered it and I offered her a demo which she declined. I’m not bloody Curry’s knowhow. I don’t offer a service to return to show her how to turn the volume up or down in the settings.

She’s just messaged again asking if I can show her how to put her photos onto it from her phone when I got round!

Is it ok to block her? I sold her a working product at a very cheap price. She declined a quick demo and is now bothering me with questions. I’d feel bad doing it, but I’ve upheld my side of the bargain.

She is a 20 minute drive from me in a not particularly nice area. I absolutely would not go back there on my own and feel I should just block her and let her work out how to use it as it’s not broken?

Happy to hear I’m awful and should help her but equally would just like to get on with my life.

Just ignore her.

Queenoftheashes · 08/01/2022 18:35

Yes fuck that. Block.

BleuJay · 08/01/2022 18:37

She will most likely try to get you to agree to a refund and return a broken iPad and keep your one.

Block her.

I know I absolutely shouldn’t judge but the area has a very bad reputation and I wouldn’t have done there alone initially if I’d have known but I also don’t like people collecting from my house.

I’m going to block her now. I originally just thought she was a non tech savvy woman but I’m feeling more and more like it could turn into a bad situation

Of course you can block her! Do it now.

chillydownwiththefiregang · 08/01/2022 18:54

Agree with @BleuJay it could be a scam where she gives you back a broken iPad and keeps your working one.

Screen shot all communication so you have proof, and then block.

InFiveMins · 08/01/2022 18:59

Yep, block her. You don't owe her anything at all - block, forget and move on.

Georgeskitchen · 08/01/2022 19:27

Definitely screen shot then block

CandyCaneLane0 · 08/01/2022 19:30

Block her, you've done more than enough

2022IamHavingYa · 08/01/2022 19:44

Thank you all. Screen shots done and blocked.

What payment method did she use?

2022IamHavingYa · 09/01/2022 15:01

She paid cash, I offered her PayPal as my preference but she had cash @tectonicplates
