Anyone want to keep me company through the night with cluster feeding newborn?

I’m so tired I feel like I might die. DS2 nearly 5 weeks old and just doesn’t sleep. Not looking for advice really but more anyone else who might be up to chat to tonight. DH is helping as much as he can but he’s at work tomorrow and really needs sleep tonight as he did loads last night, so I’m bracing myself for a rough night ahead.

I will be snacking, mumsnetting, watching tv, nappy changing, and having a little tired cry from time to time. Anyone want to talk about, well, anything really into the wee small hours?

Hello, hope that both you and your little one have got some sleep - it sounds tough Flowers

Hows it going @ActonBell?
My 5mo has decided not to sleep tonight! I've had a little cry already but sadly no snacks....

Just been up with my one year old! Sending solidarity.

How old is your first? My second is almost three weeks and my first just turned two - it's so tiring and hard.

I was always more tired if I stayed awake on my phone. I used to prop myself up with 1000 pillows and nursing pillow and shut my eyes. Not recommended but she was up every 5 minutes if I put her down and I just could not survive with a toddler during the day to look after! I thought better to do it intentionally and well supported by pillows so my arms wouldn't drop then unintentionally (which would happen!) and not in a safer position. We still cosleep to this day (18 months) but in a lot more natural position now she's older and can latch herself on. She's completely different to my son who would settle nicely in his cot and I never coslept with!

I didn't see this yesterday but I also have a five week old. Maybe see you tonight? X

Sorry everyone! Checked a couple of times and no responses so thought perhaps it wasn’t a very enticing thread!

We actually had the best night in ages. Cluster feeding through the early evening and then my DH managed to get him to sleep in the pram carrycot at 8. Miraculously I got DS1 (who is 4) to sleep at the same time, so I went to bed and finally got some sleep. Baby didn’t wake until 11.45!!!! This is unheard of, so I was delighted.

He went down again (in the carrycot again) at 1.30 and didn’t wake until 3.15. Then we were up for the rest of the night but honestly it was amazing to actually get a few hours. Can’t believe he slept.

DH took him again at 6 so I could get another hour in.

Now I’m contemplating exactly how much tv I should let DS1 watch today… he’s currently throwing things down the stairs. ‘Only soft things’ is his excuse.

I’ll be back tonight @Violet1988 ! Hope you are getting a bit of shut eye.

Thanks everyone.

@Cantgetausername87 - oh that sounds rough. Snacks are essential I think!

@Kinsters - it must be very challenging with a toddler. I have to say though DS1 is older he has regressed quite a bit since his brother arrived. But he is very loving towards the baby.

I’ve been watching films when it gets to the point it’s clear I’m going to be up for a couple of hours feeding and settling. Any recommendations? We have Netflix and prime.

How's things going @ActonBell. It seems to be a particularly fussy night here, not sure what's wrong with him! X
