Hello everyone first time posting on here but was hoping I could get some advice I had to have an MRI of my head done today as I found a dent on my head and have been having some aches etc my doctor had a feel and said he couldn’t feel anything concerning but I wanted to rule of everything so he booked me in as he had no idea how the dent could have formed. How long did it take to get results back? Do you get them back faster if it’s an emergency? My minds on overdrive😩

I had a scan done just before Christmas and the results were with my consultant in days. Then it was just waiting for a new appointment with him.
You could give the referring doctor a call to ask them what the timescale is a likely to be.

The guy who did the scan said it can take upto like 5 weeks 😩but I honestly can’t go on feeling like this I’ve constantly got an achey headache everyday it’s horrible I might have to call the doctors Monday and see if there is anything they can suggest

I always thought that they do fast track more serious discoveries - or rather they fast track reviewing MRIs for people who they think are at risk, and fast track results consultations if something horrid is found.

That having been said, I got a call for a results consultation very quickly last summer (called after two days and offered me an appointment the next working day). So I presumed the worst... And it wasn't bad news at all... Though they had found something to report.

I have no idea what could cause a head dent though, how big is it?

OP MRI will need to be reported by a consultant radiologist (special image doctor). If your GP was the one who requested it they will have no power of when the pictures get reported (looked at and then a report written).
If you are in hospital having an emergency MRI it should be reported the same day. But outpatient reports vary depending on the hospital and how busy they are.
