A thread to share money saving tips! I really want to be mega frugal, there must be other like minded people 😁

What I’ve done so far:

  • Reduced water bill by filling a bowl rather than running tap, and sharing water.
  • Buy washing powder instead of liquid. Lasts much longer.
  • Cancelled subscriptions I’m not using. £6 here and there really adds up!!
  • Got a Tesco club card as our local always has deals on everyday items for club card holders.
  • Put debt on 0% cards with view to clear debt within that time.

Love to hear yours!

Use cash.
Set a budget for food shopping, eating out, clothes, etc and put it into envelopes.
Save any change at the end of the week/month.
In a long month, try to make the money stretch to an extra day or 2 each week (even an extra meal helps).
Buy yellow sticker reductions for fresh things that can be frozen like meat/fish/veg/bread products; or longer life grocery products which are being eliminated at the seasons end.
Meal plan and shop with a list, but be flexible if you find a bargain.
Waste nothing! Our dgm’s didn’t know what a use by date was. Use your senses, esp smell to tell if somethings still edible. (Usual caveat if you’re feeding elderly, vulnerable or very young children).

Turn the heating thermostat down 1 degree and wear a thicker jumper around the house. Turn heating off an half an hour before bedtime. Shut doors to keep time warm.
Meal plan, eat seasonal veg.

Use compare websites to switch tocheaper insurance, utilities etc...

Don't automatically upgrade your mobile once the contract ends. Choose a cheaper tariff instead. You could save loads doing that.

As someone else suggested.
Use washing powder instead. You don't need anywhere near the doseage that it says on the packet.

Wash your hair once instead of twice.

Plan washing for sunny and windy days, and save using the tumble drier.
