John Lewis - high Wycombe

Hi everyone - quick question - is the JL in high Wycombe a decent sized biggish store? Travelling down to it to go pram shopping but don’t want it waste a trip if it’s just a little “local” type JL with not much stock

Thank you anyone who lives near by!

Not shopped there for prams so not sure how big their selection is but it’s definitely a big store.

shade78 · 07/01/2022 18:37

I’d say medium sized :) quite a few prams and baby section. If you want bigger Reading but then hw is convenient out of town store with plenty of parking.

xyzandabc · 07/01/2022 18:39

It is a big store. Not sure exactly about prams though. Milton Keynes is bigger though if you're travelling down, it may be en route??

Thanks everyone. May try and do an indirect route and persuade the toddler and husband they definitely want to visit 3 different JL’s in one day Grin

High Wycombe John Lewis is a decent size, not sure how big baby section is though. You could try phoning and asking, you did used to be able to contact the stores directly.

Does it have to be John Lewis? Groovy Style in Berkhamsted might be fairly easy to reach depending on your route and usually has a big range of prams on display. Also lots of car seats. They sometimes run an appointment system though.

Has it changed? A few years ago it only had a limited range of departments, but a massive furniture department.

Magnited · 07/01/2022 19:02

Wasn't that the huge store built in about 1990 you could see on the left from the M40 as you travelled east towards London, built on the hills by the main roundabout (Cressex??). Probably shrouded by grown up trees now I guess. That was the plan - I knew the family who sold the land off for the store. Huge car park - 6 acres I recall. It was a flagship store outside London before they did Bluewater and Bicester Village and stuff. Had an excellent reputation. Not been there though.

Yes, it used to be a homewares store. Quite a few years ago now, it changed to an all round store and now has clothing as well as all the other depts.

That's the one.
Beecham · 07/01/2022 19:04

It's reasonably big - why not ring first to see what they have in?

caffeinebuzz · 07/01/2022 19:10

It's a couple of years ago now but we bought our pram there and they had all the main brands and models available to demo. I do remember the nursery section looking sparse when I had to go there more recently for a warranty issue, but that was at the height of covid so hopefully they're back to normal now.

If you want to look at something in particular I'd call in advance.

MonthofMondays · 07/01/2022 19:17

If you do go to High Wycombe- I was in the next shop very near JL the other day and they had prams, might be worth a look too? (It's not next but another brand in the same building)

shade78 · 07/01/2022 20:06

Yes in the same building as Cressex Next they have a mamas and papas brand new.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 07/01/2022 20:12

Oooh fab thanks!

A few years ago when there was really bad snow my mum and dad were nearly snowed in at John Lewis - my dad still breaks out in a cold sweat thinking about being stuck in a department store - my mum would have been delighted!
I remember after that some people were snowed in and slept in the bed section!
Sorry no actual help with your Question!

CluelessofMn · 08/01/2022 13:17

I was there yesterday and it looked like a jumble sale. Hope they managed to tidy it up overnight. Customer in front of me entered without wearing a mask or applying sanitizer (maybe exempt and hoping he put some on before entering)

From memory last time I looked, there was quite a selection of prams and car seats. Top floor, at the back on the right.
