Hello all, I'm looking for advice/realisitc views please.
I've been bidding on social housing for 8years, I currently share a room with my two girls 8 and 6, my son has he's own room he's 14.
I'm no where near to getting a property in my area if I move 20mins away I will be 1st so hopefully can get it after 8 years.
My issue is my 14yr old he's adamant he's not moving schools it's a difficult age and I fully understand that but I don't wanna live in this tiny flat sharing a room for the next our many years....
What would you do?
He's a very very shy boy hence moving will be very difficult for him. I'm so lost 😞

I’d stay put until he’s finished his GCSE’s, with him knowing that you will be moving then so he needs to factor in that for colleges.

I wouldn’t move. It sounds like he may already have some problems with him being shy/quiet/withdrawn and a move to another area and school could make things a lot worse.

Alternatively do you have parents that live in the same area that if you did move, he could stay with them during the school days and be with you at weekends and school holidays?

Ask the school if there's a school bus, and/or ask the council if you might qualify for the taxi service (especially if your son might have additional needs).

Why is it 1hour 40 minutes on public transport? Are you sure that's the only way? I use public transport all the time and I've never found a 20-minute drive to take 5 times longer on public transport. Get the Moovit app (it works out journeys on public transport; I love it) and have another look.
