If you work evenings or nights, what do you do?

I'm looking for a night job for 16 hours a week. So far I've come up with fast food restaurants, hotel reception, supermarket....what else?

I used to work in a supermarket in the evenings. You could also look at the following:

Cleaner in an office building/shop.
Cashier in a petrol station.
Receptionist or cleaner in a late-night gym.
Waitressing or bar work in a pub or restaurant.
Delivery driver.
Uber driver.
Babysitting or evening childcare for parents who work shifts.

I'm a care worker. You could do a "twilight" shift at the evening
Usually getting the residents fed and ready for bed
Some care homes start at 6 for their dinner
And some start at 7 for supper

My boyfriend works nights, he does overnight security.

Heavy industry. Dh works in a foundry and it is always active.

Some call handlers, the Highways Agency for instance. Office work but 24 hour.

I’m a train driver and do late and night shifts, although not exclusively.
If you’re in London/reasonable commutable, keep an eye out for the night tube recruitment. I believe it’s Thursday/Friday/Saturday night, so you completely lose your social life, but it’s very good £.

I work nights in a hospital as a healthcare assistant we also have cleaners and porters who work nights.

I did bar work for a while, loved it

Police, but no good for you as I have to work all different shifts.

Two things you could look at are CCTV operator, this is a really good job, you have to do a course usually first sometimes the employer will cover cost but if not it isn't too expensive and it is usually a two day course run over a weekend.

Care worker in a children's home doing waking nights. The money is actually pretty decent, more than police/nurses get paid when they first join anyway.

I used to work 5.30-9.30pm at my local passport office where evening shift is 20 or 25 hours Monday-Friday. Pay is good and you get an additional shift allowance for hours worked after 6pm.
Also there’s lots of opportunities for career progression too. Jobs are usually advertised on the Civil Service website.
