Economy 7 - ways to save

The latest electricity bill was a horror show, as I'd imagine in the case for many.

Our house is on the Economy Seven plan so it's the obvious place to save.

I already have the dishwasher, hot water and an hour of central heating first thing set for the cheap rate.

I've bought a couple of timers, one for the washing machine and one for an extension cable to do the many iPads etc.

What am I missing?

If you have economy seven, how do you get the most out of it?

TIA

Are you making sure chargers aren't being left in when not in use?

Economy 7 was typically for storage heaters, do you still have those to heat your home?

Ours is the same OP. With our old energy supplier I got us on a normal tariff, not economy 7, and that worked much better for us. But that supplier went bust and the new supplier we were allocated put us on an economy 7 tariff and won't seem to let us change. Our first bill was more than double our bill with the old supplier Shock
It's on my job list this week to see if we can change supplier and if it would be any cheaper anyway, with the price cap etc.
Sorry that's no help to you though, but you're not alone Smile

Depends. If you have the old storage heaters … ones that came in the house when it was built. You can’t. It’s expensive. Those are the heaters I had. And our bill was huge. But also remember you don’t have to pay gas’s if u are all electric.

But. U can get newer ones that make the economy seven cheaper. But do ur research. People I know changed them and they cost them even more money.

On the flip side. I have just moved and I never thought I would say it. I miss my storage heater. No faffing around with the heating. I’m up and down in the night and in my last house I wasn’t cold as the house was lovely and warm. Now I’m freezing.

Also. I had no mould or condensation in my last house as the temp was always nice. In my new house I am struggle with that and mould. I would love to have mine back.

@Chardlettuce they might need to change your meter to a standard meter but that would be free and easy to di

No storage heaters, but we do have electric boilers to heat our water etc.

Chargers all off at night, or a couple that are now on a cheap rate timer.
