Sounds like it's related to her period. Since starting mine at 13 every month without fail I would get the most awful headaches for the full 5 day duration of my period.

If it comes back at the same time next month then i would put a safe bet that it's hormonal/period related and speak to GP about a low dose contraceptive. I went on one at 14 and it got rid of the headaches completely.

Anecdotal of course but maybe worth looking into.

Please don’t give calpol every four hours as advised above, you can only have 4 doses in 24 hours, not 6. If do give it every 4 hours you’ll run out of doses to give, if that makes sense.

If she can't swallow tablets could you get soluble paracetamol instead? Also, could she be a little dehydrated?

DD gets debilitating headaches as well, and finds having some paracetamol and a drink of coke really helps, as do I. Neither of us drink coke regularly, but the caffeine helps with the headache, and the sugar content helps rehydrate.

I hope she feels better soon Flowers

She has the Calpol melts. But this started on Tuesday

You need to see the GP.

KurtWilde · 06/01/2022 10:28

I think it's more than just a headache OP, have you called the GP yet? It's been a couple of days now and it does need speaking about to the doctor imo.

Newyearoldyou · 06/01/2022 11:13

Spoke yesterday to get blood test ordered but she seemed better and now downstairs hill again

Newyearoldyou · 06/01/2022 11:20

Headache but it's the stomach ache that's hurting herself more

OP posts:
KurtWilde · 06/01/2022 11:21

Blood test for what?

Newyearoldyou · 06/01/2022 11:23

I thought it might be iron deficiency.

OP posts:
SilverHairedCat · 06/01/2022 11:24

Did the GP agree with that then? What did they actually say?

Newyearoldyou · 06/01/2022 11:30

That it's probably not iron but that would be okay to arrange anyway if I was worried. But she had perked up yesterday anyway

OP posts:
Newyearoldyou · 06/01/2022 11:30

Will call again at 2 when appt released

OP posts:
KurtWilde · 06/01/2022 11:39

Did they not offer a suggestion of what it might be if probably not iron deficiency?

Newyearoldyou · 06/01/2022 11:45

Says stomachs hurts all over. Going to call 111 against of course

OP posts:
Newyearoldyou · 06/01/2022 11:46

He said largyntus going around but no temp and then just headache that was coming and going this was by phone obviously. Last night she was ready to go back to school

KurtWilde · 06/01/2022 12:19

Good idea OP, sounds horrible! Your poor DD I hope you can get some answers and get her on the mend.

Newyearoldyou · 06/01/2022 19:25

Well... 111 said speak to doctor and yet doctor didn't call us. Confused she's perked up a little again... But I'm not convinced she's on the mend yet. At least her stomach doesn't hurt.

Not sure what to do. See how she goes, get 111 again?

She's too old for Calpol just give her a normal adult dose of ibuprofen or paracetamol. No wonder she can't shift it.

If she really can't swallow tablets, give her soluble ones. Or get the plasticky capsule ones instead of the powdery ones that stick in your throat, no one can swallow those, they're grim.
