Last day of the Christmas holidays here, so I'm making the most of enjoying my first cuppa on my own.

There are some pots to wash up, washing to be done and upstairs needs hoovering. Birthday decorations from dd2's birthday at the beginning of last week need to come down too.

I need to get out my Rainbows and Guides stuff for this evening, and nip to the shops for some sort of prize for the winning team of Guides in tonight's "Quiz of 2021".

Other than that, I think we'll have a steady, moochy, kind of day and make sure everyone has what they need for tomorrow sorted early ish, and I've at least started one of the online courses I need to do for work.

If I get chance, I want to complete the toe section of the crochet socks I'm working on.

What about everyone else? :)

@KenDodd I'd ask how on Earth you worked that out but my brain is not mathematically-inclined at all 🤣

The birth rate is falling in almost every country in the world, it's now only 1.6 children per woman in the rich world.

If we assume a fertility rate of 1.9, so, 1.9 new people born for every two people on the planet, that a reduction of 5% each generation.
After 20 generations we get to zero (not true, as its 5% of a decreasing number)
If we say a generation is 30 years, 30 × 20 = 600.
So in 600 years man goes extinct Smile

The maths isn't correct but I was still very pleased with myself.

@KenDodd that is good news! I'd have guessed earlier at the rate we're going!

SmallElephant · 05/01/2022 16:33

Oh. So your calculations don't allow for us all dying in a climate related catastrophe?

KenDodd · 05/01/2022 17:10

No. I haven't factored in meteor strike either.
