What is this sensation?!

I went to bed last night feeling normal rolled over in the night and ever since I feel like I’m on a boat or ride. Everything is spinning it’s a sensation I’ve never had before. It’s quite scary.

I can move around okay it seems to be worse when I’m laid down or looking to the left. My eyes look/feel like they’re moving too.
What’s happening?!

My family think it’s stress but I’ve never felt this way when stressed before. Apart from the spinning sensation I feel fine in myself too.

Sounds like vertigo. You might have an ear infection or something like that. Best to get checked by a doctor.

BingoLingFucker · 04/01/2022 08:40

Vertigo?
Labyrinthitis?

I occasionally get this (put down to stress), I tend to have a nurofen and go back to sleep and it sorts itself out.

Sounds like vertigo to me - BPPV perhaps? It happened to me in the middle of the night. GP gave me exercises to do but it took a few weeks before I could lie on my left.

Probably BPPV ( I think that the right letters in the right order), the fluid in the tiny snail thing in you ear isn't moving smoothly and messing up your balance. The fact your eyes are trying to compensate is a clue. It's horrible but usually fixable.

I've had this briefly twice, when I have been overtired. Sleep fixed it both times for me.
Could be vertigo /labyrynthitis otherwise.

ALongHardWinter · 04/01/2022 11:28

Sounds like labarynthitis. Do you feel sick?

KurtWilde · 04/01/2022 12:02

Vertigo. It's an awful sensation. I've been getting episodes of it for about 10 years now. Bloody horrible. Best the GP could give me was travel sickness tablets to stop me feeling sick during flare ups.

CapitanSandy · 04/01/2022 13:24

No nausea thankfully. Had a bit more sleep since my first post. It only seems to happen laying down now. Is vertigo something worth seeing the GP for or shall I just wait for it to pass? So weird that I feel fine until I lay down then it’s like been on a fairground ride!

Turning over in bed feels like I'm on the roundabout ready to fly off it because it's going too fast! Occasionally happens when I'm walking too but not as severely. You could absolutely just call the GP and let them know so at least it'll be on your notes if it becomes an ongoing problem.

Thank you everyone feeling a bit better than this morning so hoping it was just a one off thing.

The only time I’ve experienced similar my GP put it down to vertigo. It’s such a disconcerting feeling, I hope it passes soon for you Flowers.
