Can someone help me with my pro rata leave entitlement?

I’m so confused. I’m starting a new job soon. I will be working 15 hours a week. The holiday entitlement is 25 days a year plus public holidays.

So to all intents and purposes, do I get 5 weeks off a year? (on the basis of 15 hours per week)?

Do you mean 25 + 8 = 33 days for full timers?
That gives them 6.6 weeks holiday per year
You should be entitled to 6.6 x 15 = 99 hours per year.

You haven't said how many days you work so for e.g if you did 3 days a week you'd be entitled to 3 x 6.6 = 19.8 days (in this example each of your days would be 5 hours long compared to a longer day for full time staff)

So assuming a standard work day at your work is 7.5 hours you’re working 2 days per week yes? That’s 0.4 FTE so you would get 33 days multiplied by 0.4 which is 13.2 days.

If bank holidays fall on the day you would usually work then they would be taken off this number so it depends if you would normally work a Monday or not as that’s when most of them are (but don’t forget about Xmas, Boxing Day, nyd & good Friday). Once that’s been deducted then what’s left is how many days you can take off (obviously you only need 2 days to have a full week off)

No the 15 hours are spread over 4, sometimes 5 days a week. Where does that leave me?

How many hours do full timers work? How many hours is that per day?
Work out how many hours holiday they get each year. Remember to include public holidays too. Convert the total number of days to hours.

Work out what percentage you work. (Must be about 37.5% or something like that.)
You are entitled to the same percentage of holidays. Work in hours, then convert back to days.

Look at my previous answer then - 99 hours per year. 6.6 weeks worth of of holidays x 15 hours per week = 99 hours
