I need to cut down on spending. Its wasteful and i really want to cut down this year.

Its not the normal household stuff, its the non essentials that i need to rein in.

I got a letter yesterday from John Lewis credit card congratulating me on being one of their highest credit card point earner!

I felt embarrassed when i received that.

Has anyone else had a turning point were something made them stop and think about their spending?

We had my mother in law to stay over Christmas
I’ll never forget her face when all my eBay stuff arrived-and again the following day
And again just after Xmas
Thing is,for me that’s normal-I get anything from one to 10 parcels a week
I’m doing the no spend January this month as I knew I spent too much-it’s easier than I thought to be honest

Last recession dh lost his job and we no longer earned enough to cover our debts and bills. That was pretty grim. Lesson learned though and now have actual savings, it’s amazing how much stress is relieved by knowing we have a safety net.

Oh yes ive had that were relatives who have been staying have been gobsmacked at how much the doorbell goes!

I rang a joiner who had done some work on our house and he couldn't remember me, when he finally did remember me he said..

“Oh i remember you now, you’re the online shopper! I remember it being like Piccadilly circus in your house with that doorbell!
