Are the blue light cards worth getting?

I've heard about it but haven't got one. I've had a quick look online and you pay 4.99 a year which isn't much but just wondering if anyone finds it useful to have?

It will be if you use it.

Free entry to Kew Gardens, so I made my money back on the first use - and discounted entry for one companion too.

25% off in Neal's yard, 15% off in FatFace. Money off Waterstones (but only online).

Definitely. I saved more than the cost of it in one transaction at Go Outdoors.

20% off DS’s expensive trainers at Size

10% off at Morrison’s and Asda atm

barburrito is a favourite one of ours to get 10% off too and I usually ask in other restaurants and have been surprised where has said yes.

I keep an old ID badge in my wallet for those who want to see ID as well and the card/ app

Definitely sounds like it's worth getting. Thanks so much for all your replies!! X

Currently 10% off everything including booze in Asda til the end of January, so I’d say yes.

backtoworktomorrow81 · 03/01/2022 15:12

Yes definitely worth it, I've saved so much the past 18 months and so many more places are accepting it, including supermarkets such as Asda and Morrisons

uncomfortablydumb53 · 03/01/2022 15:13

Yes definitely. My DS has literally saved £100's plus discount everytime at KFC!

Tee20x · 03/01/2022 15:15

Yeah for a fiver you might as well get it you easily make your money back and even save money on things like servicing & MOTs at Halfords.

ShowOfHands · 03/01/2022 15:20

DH saves a fortune with his. And we've been on days out for blue light card holders only at a discounted price when we ordinarily have struggled to get tickets.

Nearly everywhere offers a discount if you ask as they don't always advertise. Most of our big purchases such as bikes and tents, white goods etc have had good discounts with a card.

AnyFucker · 03/01/2022 15:25

I get my contact lenses from Asda and they are included too

BlissfullyIgnorant · 03/01/2022 15:47

I have both the Defence Discount (£5 for 5 years) and Blue Light (£5 for 2 years) and have saved masses.
Not sure about the BLC but I got the Costco membership with DDS card which has saved a fortune in car fuel, amongst many other things.
Worth noting that, one card can get some discounts that the other doesn't, particularly at certain times of year - BLC is good around Xmas and DDS is good around Armed Forces Day and Remembrance

AnyFucker · 03/01/2022 16:01

I have just had an email from the Blue Light card with lots of holiday booking discounts for the summer

Doggymama123 · 03/01/2022 16:07

Yes! Use mine all the time and got some fab discounts! Always check on there before I make a purchase! £5 is nothing compared to what you save x

MrsLargeEmbodied · 03/01/2022 18:07

oh i thought asda was december only, seems they have now included january, so that is good
also sports direct
peacocks
rac,
have a search

QueefofSheena · 03/01/2022 18:12

DH has one, it saves loads of money on Levis. I think it’s been 30% recently

FingChristmasFamily · 03/01/2022 18:22

I use mine all the time. Definitely worth it if you remember to use it. I pretty much never buy anything without checking if I can get a discount.

CornishTiger · 03/01/2022 18:26

Yes definitely worth it. I don’t think I can renew mine though …. Bugger

MrsLargeEmbodied · 03/01/2022 18:43

plominoagain · 03/01/2022 18:46
