Good gift for this situation?

A relative has broken her wrist and is due to have surgery next week. I would like to get her a useful gift to let her know we're thinking of her.

She is older and lives with her DH. She is normally very busy and will be finding the restrictions to movement of her arm incredibly frustrating. So have you broken a wrist or arm? What did you find helpful? What do you wish you had known sooner?

Thanks mn

Travel mug (lid) so she doesn't spill her coffee?

Voucher for Cookfood online so she can ask someone to whack a genuinely home-cooked meal in the microwave.

You sound lovely Thanks

That's also a nice idea. Have offered to cook for them but she is well prepared in general so they have plenty of food in the freezer

I broke a leg and was out of action for 6 weeks. Things I found useful:

Nice flask for tea to be made in advance/ DH to make before going to work.

Magazines delivered. Podcasts/ Netflix/ Audible - absolute God sends.

Pay for ironing to be done weekly/ a temp cleaner or pop in yourself once a week. My best friends took it in turns to come and iron/ change the beds/ put a meal in the slow cooker - had lovely chats whilst here. DH was working full time and looking after the 3DC so he really appreciates the help.

Love the ironing idea. That's a definite option.

She also loves reading but she has a kindle so should be fine turning pages and holding the book

One handed trays are useful to carry drinks/snacks etc. My mum uses them so she can just use her stick rather than the full on walking aid at times.

There are a few different options - she had one that almost dangled on a string, I'm not describing it very well but it was weighted and non slip so that the cup didn't slide too much so she still had a cuppa when she got back to her chair!
