How can DC get rid of blackheads??

Beautifultulips · 01/01/2022 14:02

So teen DC has quite a few small blackheads on their nose, they are desperate to get rid of them and have asked my help!
We have tried face masks, exfoliating, even resorted to trying to squeeze them out but just nothing works. They are like little raised black dots. What products could we try wise Mumsnetters?!

Op I'm bumping for you because I want to know as well!
We've tried squeezing and whilst I get some it's painful and awkward for dd. I tried one brand of those charcoal strips? But they left the larger ones in.
So I don't know now. Confused

Are they maybe sebaceous filaments rather than blackheads

zafferana · 01/01/2022 14:05

You need a comedone extractor. It's a little metal tool that you place over the blackhead and push down and it squeezes out the stuff inside. First you open the pore by holding a hot, wet flannel over the area, then use the tool, and lastly put a blob of antibacterial gel on to prevent infection. Easy! Works a treat.

We got one of these but nothing comes out! It just leaves a mark where I have pressed... I think it doesn't help that they're on the nose so no spare skin to push if you know what I mean!

Maybe they are having googled those? They are certainly not a big black lump but are slightly bumpy. How do we get rid? They seem to be getting worse and are definitely affecting my DC confidence

Let's hope we can get a solution for both of us!

Dr pimple popper uses blackhead tweezers for sebaceous filaments

Newyearoldyou · 01/01/2022 14:25

I've got a black head with sort of white over it, can't get to the black head because of this almost plastic like white over it?

Glycolic acid peels. Do one a week for six weeks - increasing length of time by a minute per week - then a break.

But do a test first to check it doesn’t react with her skin.

Also Paula’s choice BHA.

CornishTiger · 01/01/2022 14:30

I was going to say Paula’s choice BHA.

DragonMamma · 01/01/2022 14:35

My teen Dd swears by Freederm exfoliating scrub and it’s moisturiser on a daily basis and then Pixi Glow tonic a couple of times a week.

She’s gone from having quite spotty skin with blackheads to a clear complexion which honestly glows.

LetsStartAgain111 · 01/01/2022 14:41

Trinny Woodall posts about all this on her site, Facebook and Instagram and on YouTube.
Usually it's gentle exfoliation, double cleansing, using acid toners and serums such as niacinamide serum. You might squeeze a blackhead out and she explains how to do this without scarring and then how to prevent them and manage skin etc going forward.

I like the T Zone strips because I can see them all on it after I rip it off.

Inthesameboatatmo · 01/01/2022 14:50

The loreal charcoal mask is great for black heads you can literally see them coming out as the mask dries.

BleuJay · 01/01/2022 15:25

SR skincare salicylic acid and moisturise.

Oil cleansing. Lots of videos on youtube.

Hohofortherobbers · 01/01/2022 16:00

Biore nose strips, peel those blackheads out, very satisfying

Tittyfilarious81 · 01/01/2022 16:02

I use nose strips that pull them. Exfoliating wash first then strip then I use an acid toner

ohsuzannah · 01/01/2022 16:07

Try oil cleansing. The Ordinary do oils for this purpose. Massage the oil in for at least 5 minutes then remove with a facial cloth and foaming cleanser. You should see results in a few days Smile

Intransigentcat · 01/01/2022 18:20

The ordinary glycolic toner works well on blackheads, as is the medik8 pore cleansing gel. I've got a foreo type exfoliating appliance thing and that is very good on the nose area.

DHC olive oil cleanser is also really good and gentle too

User48751490 · 01/01/2022 18:42

I am an adult and would like to know as I have had blackheads since my mid teens

I don't think you are supposed to remove those, they are part of your face and part of how your skin works.

People have become very weird about having skin that looks completely poreless and unmarked, line china or an airbrushed picture. But it's really not natural or good for anyone's skin to look like that.

Newyearoldyou · 02/01/2022 12:18

What does oil cleaning actually do? Does it remove black heads that are already there?

Newyearoldyou · 02/01/2022 12:19

@ohsuzannah

You mean the black heads will disappear?
Or you need to be remove black heads then they won't return with this method

DropYourSword · 02/01/2022 12:22

I’ve found La Roche Posay Effaclar Serum really effective.
