If you have set any for 2022 what are they?

I'd like to visit relatives again.
Go somewhere by train.
"Get my steps in"
Be conscientious and dependable in my work - paid and unpaid.
Finish that darn book I've started several times.
Draw regularly.
Covid permitting, do a craft course such as enamelling or glass fusing, and see a live comedian.

NewYeahSieve · 01/01/2022 17:02

And go swimming regularly!

Babyroobs · 01/01/2022 17:06

Leave my current job for good.
Lose weight.
Walk more.
Drink less.

Wishing you well @SpookyScarySkeletons, I'm sure you'll do it.

Nc123 · 01/01/2022 23:07

I’m often a bit jealous, and instead of supporting my successful creative friends I often spiral and beat myself up for not being as successful in my own creative endeavours. So one of mine this year is to celebrate and encourage my successful creative friends more and try to be inspired by them instead. Related to this I want to complete the second draft of my novel.

Im currently on temporary promotion so I will be making that permanent in the new year.

I’m going to cherish myself with regular exercise, hydration, sleep, eating well, beauty and treats.

I want to move this year so will aim to make extra money every month to help fund the work we need to do before we move.

I will get the bathroom done (it’s booked in), fitted wardrobes built, the garden and attic cleared and put the house on the market.

And I want to spend more time with my friends!

Justgettingbye · 02/01/2022 09:32

@SpookyScarySkeletons

I usually have the same old rubbish like lose weight, drink less, eat more veg etc etc etc

However after an illness that took my ability walk away last Christmas I am aiming to walk unaided again by Christmas 2022. It's going to be hard but I'm am going to work my bloody socks off to get there!

At the moment I can do about 10m very very slowly with a frame or 2 walking sticks. Wheelchair for anything further than 10m. I am going to be skipping into my work Christmas party in 12 months time.

Best of luck for this! I can't imagine what that must be like for you.

I guess we all take these things for granted, maybe being grateful for what we have is a simple but meaningful one.

I hope everyone achieves what they want to. Small changes and all that xx

this.

If your biggest driving factor is the year being 2022 rather than 2021 then your motivation is not high enough to succeed. That is not to say all resolutions fail but as said above if you were really bothered you would alreadyb be doing it.

Well sorry but I spent 8 months last year in a cloud of fear and grief unable to even function or focus on doing stuff even though I needed to do it for my own sanity.

This year with my late husband in mind I intend to at least try and do things that I never got to do with my dh and make time for myself.

I had a shit new year and Christmas without him and on news years day I felt a little more positive. So according to you I just shouldn’t bother yeah cos I should have already been doing it.

New Years resolutions can work I should know. I lost 3 stone and kicked out my ex 4 years ago and never looked back, met my wonderful now late dh.

Fuck it no point to this fucking year already I’m going back to bed

Signalbox · 02/01/2022 09:51
  1. 50% less screen time.
  2. Do 1 creative thing each day.

I love making new year’s resolutions. If it’s things you’ve been thinking about for a while. Everything needs a starting point doesn’t it?

SpookyScarySkeletons · 02/01/2022 10:16

@ghostmouse I am so sorry for your loss Thanks don't take the pp to heart. I agree with you though as I am a little offended by the insinuation that previously I did t have the motivation to learn to walk again Hmm

When you do get out of bed think about what your DH would say if he saw how sad and unhappy you are. He wouldn't wish you to feel this way. You still have a long life ahead of you and you need to live it.

I know this is nowhere near what you have been through but waking up and realising my legs weren't working and the months and months of waking up every day and wishing I hadn't because the day ahead would be so hard.. it almost broke me. But I have a new positive attitude now. It's still bloody hard but im starting to find the positives each day. Whether it's reading a good book, practising with my sticks or something small the DC do to help me.

Sorry I've just realised that's a massive essay. But I just wanted to send you a hug and a little positivity.

mum2jakie · 02/01/2022 10:17

I've got lots of positive aspirations about improving the condition of our home, physical exercise, mental health, social activities etc etc. To make it all more manageable, I'm aiming to achieve at least one positive task each day.

Yesterday, got our teenager out to the park and enjoyed basketball and table tennis. Today, I'm going to clean the bathroom which is in a terrible state!

Best of luck OP and everyone else with ambitions for a better 2022!!

OwlinaTree · 02/01/2022 10:29

I am going to start playing my piano - I want to try to improve/learn to play songs I know.

I have ordered a proper piano stool today so I'll be comfortable!

Read more books - I read 16 in 2021 which was a big improvement - going to try to double this to 30.

Good luck everyone!

MintMe · 02/01/2022 10:33

New job

Finish all house jobs

Move house

Find a form of exercise I enjoy and do it regularly

Livefortherain · 02/01/2022 10:39

My resolution is to set one job for the day and do it.

Yesterday it was to put the Christmas decs in the cupboard.
Today it is clean the lounge properly.

PermanentTemporary · 02/01/2022 10:41

I'm happy to hang a bit of motivation on it being a new year. It works for me.

  1. Lose 3kg so that I'm no longer obese
  2. Complete couch to 5k (again)
  3. Do the War and Peace readalong on here
  4. Spend time with ds, because he's leaving home this autumn!

And I have one given to me by someone else, to do Grade 1 in piano. Thinking about it.

HacerSonarSusPasos · 02/01/2022 10:41

Do something about my phone addiction
Travel more than I did the last 2 years
Read at least 40 books

Thatsplentyjack · 02/01/2022 10:45

To lose a stone before my birthday in March. I lost 2 after having baby dd last Feb and then took a long break because I absolutely hate cutting back on food. I work with kids so it's really difficult for me to cut back because kods eat all the time! Therefor always thinking about food and I use food as a reward to mysel.

Thatsplentyjack · 02/01/2022 10:57

Good luck @SpookyScarySkeletons. About 3 years ago now my mil had to have a triple amputation. She now only has one arm. Within 6 months she had prosthetic legs and was walking again. You can do it!!

ghostmouse · 02/01/2022 11:13

@SpookyScarySkeletons thank you and very wise word too.
Good luck from me too, losing the use of your legs is a profound and life changing thing, all the best to you.

I’ve already ticked one thing off this year, I’ve learnt to make amigarumi crochet Smile

Enzbear · 02/01/2022 11:13

To book a luxury far away holiday for 2023 in the hope that common sense will be prevalent by then and we can have a normal holiday again.
To enjoy being a grandparent to my beautiful new grandchild.
To not let choices and actions of others affect me as much.
To keep on top of paperwork etc.

mamaduckbone · 02/01/2022 12:32

I would like to learn to crochet! I've tried and failed before but I'm going to make a concerted effort. By the end of the year I will have made a granny square blanket. There, it's written down now so it has to happen.

Laiste · 02/01/2022 12:39

Flowers to those suffering from grief. Strength to you x

My resolution is to lose weight. Boring i know, but I'm Mother of the Bride at some point this year and i want to feel good about being in the photos with my dear DD and her lovely fiance.

I feel it's a good reason and extra motivation :)

anotherbrewplease · 03/01/2022 08:13

@mamaduckbone - go for it!!

I finally learnt how to crochet in 2020 lockdown and did an Attic 24 blanket which we all use every day still.

I'm now learning loads of new stitches doing the Sophies Universe pattern.

I watched A LOT of different you tube videos that helped me to learn. Without doing that - it would not have happened. Grin
