Any help on audio books please? I'm going to start walking/running on treadmill but it's so boring I'm thinking of listening to audio book. What app is good and any book recommendations? I dont do horror but anything else welcome.
Anyone else who walks on treadmill do you watch tv or listen to books/music?

When you get some recommendations always listen to the sample first. The right or wrong reader can make or break a book.

I enjoyed Pillars of the Earth and sequels. Very long, so good value as 20 odd hours listening, saga types. I tend to listen in bed though so that is what I want and may not be right for you.

Bill Bryson books are good but I prefer British accents for listening.

I love audible but yes always listen to a sample first in case the narrator grates on you.

I love the Rivers Of London series. And Joe Lysett Parsnips Buttered has me running and laughing like a loon no matter how many times I listen. Also suggest you try podcasts, they can be a great distraction.

Audible is my favourite. They have a really good range of free / original stuff in their plus catalog. Personally I like sci fi / fantasy books that tend to be very long with multiple books or historical fiction so I find I while away hours walking to those

Most local libraries have free audiobooks you can listen to through their app.

My library has an app where you can listen to FREE audiobooks!

Mine is called borrow box but I think different libraries have different apps.

Good luck

I love audiobooks. I've had an annual 24 credit sub to audible for years. They often have bogofs & also daily deals for £2-£3

If you want long books, the hearts invisible furies, the goldfinch, a little life, the power of one, the crimson petal & the white, IQ84 are all great!

buckeejit · 01/01/2022 01:16

Yes to checking library first in case you can get them free 😁

I use borrowbox. Our library doesn't subscribe but dh and I signed up using adjoining counties (different ones) with no difficulty.

I love Cathy Glass - tells of her stories as a foster caterer.
