I am hoping to go to New York at the end of January for 4 nights. Can anyone help with an itinerary? It will be DDs 18th birthday so nice hotel/restaurant required. It will be me, DH dd, DS (15) and DS (12)

Will stay for four nights.

From Jan 29th, all children age 5+ need to be double vaccinated to enter public buildings in NY.

It was from mid December I think. Already in place anyway.

We've just been. Very strict on the vaccinations. There is an app you download and they ask for and check it every single time you go.
No exceptions.

We did lots of shopping, Empire State, Statue of Liberty and Ellis island.
You can get some good offers on GetYourGuide

We’re just about to cancel our trip planned for April due to the vaccination mandates (and the fact our British children won’t be able to comply) so sadly it’s definitely a factor. If you do still want to go ahead have a think about the outdoor activities you would like to do.

Make the most of jet lag ! Go to Ellen’s Stardust Diner off Times Square, get there v early to beat the queue. Email famousfatdave.com/ and see if he has availability. Visit the MET then walk through Central Park for lunch at Tavern on the Green. Go to the top of the Rockefeller really early. Have a gospel brunch at Ginnts Supper Club. It’s going to be Baltic with very chilly winds blowing.

Ginny’s Supper Club !

Times Square is hideous, I would avoid like the plague if I were you. I have also always avoided Ground Zero. It’s a place of mourning and not a tourist attraction in mine and our NY relatives’ opinions.

I think you will be fine if your little one is under 5

It might be cold but we have been in December and February and haven't really been that cold in either month. We enjoyed Central Park Zoo as a bjtnof a get away from the hustle and bustle. Also ice skating in Central Park is good. Use the subway it is notnas scary as you think and a lot easier to navigate than the tube in my opinion it will save your legs. Go up the Rockerfeller rather than the Empire State Building because then you can see the Empire State Building. Dont expect any strangers, policemen or shop workers to give you directions, they mostly haven't got a clue themselves and the Police are not as friendly as they are in UK tourist destinations.

Covid is everywhere there. Good luck
