.. light-hearted.

So, I was remembering a time at school that instill kid of get opissed off and smug about.

I was in the "lazy" group for PE. I wasn't bad at games , just not interested enough to make any teams. Also the school we're a bit shit, and if you were on one team, you were in them all.

Anyway, fast forward to Year 11 netball. Last ever lesson. And we were left to our own devices, and just so happened that our group were playing against the Senior Netball - A Team.

Anyway, us little bunch of layabouts, decided, quite randomly, that we were going to play properly as it was our last game. We all agreed we'd give it everything and try and win.

And so we did. We were happily beating the A Team. Winning something like ..8-2. the teacher comes along and asks what the score is. We merrily tell her. And she's kind of like "oh... Well...next to score wins the match!"

I was RAGING.

and we scored next Grin

We very happily and smugly sauntered past her when we won.

The movement of water molecules from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration through a semi-permeable membrane.
Osmosis.

I did the 1500m in sports day in (what is now) Y9. Nobody wanted to do it but I actually volunteered. I'd done cross-country for three years at primary school, despite invariably coming last.

I was at least 100m behind everyone else (including the half-dozen girls from my primary school who used to win those races I lost). I ran the last stretch past the spectators, who were all cheering. It was amazing.

Same year, I tipped a Major Bully off her chair in the middle of the dining hall. My friend arrived for lunch in tears, I asked why, was told Mandy had been horrible to her, Stalked over, said "Mandy I think you are a big bitch!" took hold of the back of the chair and tugged.

I would like to point out that I had no idea how dangerous that could be.

Deputy head swiftly came over and sent us to sit outside her office. She was ages (probably trying to find out what the hell had happened to make sweet little merry do such a thing) and we kind of reached an uneasy truce. After she'd sent Mandy away she told me that while I obviously shouldn't have done it she knew why and sympathised with me Shock

Maths teacher not bothering with the girls in the class as we would only be factory fodder, shop girls and mothers !!!!!!!!

moved to my final school in the October before final exams, totally different curriculum and exam boards so it was decided that I would study history independently, read and re read all the "named" Jilly Cooper books, Octavia, Harriet etc. Science teacher was an alcoholic who would come in to lessons at 9.15 too pissed to stand up and didn't bother to turn up for English lessons as I was confident that I would pass the exams. Passed every exam well without any input but never really made any friends as I was always the odd one. DH has friends that he went to primary school with and I envy his ability to have friends of over 40 years

In the second year my friend and I auditioned for the upcoming show (Humbug, a musical version of Christmas Carol). The staff involved had made a point of specifically saying that third- and second-years would be prioritised over first-years for casting.

We didn't get cast, and two or three first-years got minor named roles.

Despite this devastating blow to our self-esteem we calmly and dignifiedly complained to the teacher in charge. I mean, to be fair, they probably were better actors than me, but as I said to her, if you're going to say something like that you need to stick to it. If quality is important to you then just don't say such things.

Bunking off school for the afternoon with my two friends and the school's assistant caretaker! He took us out in his car and drive like a maniac around narrow country roads. He lost control of the car which ended up on its side in a ditch. We were all shaken up and had s few bumps but thankfully nothing serious. He made us get out and go home rather than get in trouble ( I think he was more concerned that HE would get in trouble!) It was awful getting home feeling very delicate and upset but not being able to tell my mum in case she complained to the school! This was late 70s.

I was 15 at the time.

I have a few and most are PE related too 😂😂

Last to be picked at ballroom dancing (year 8) so had to dance with teacher who was about 8ft tall. Not sure my feet touched the floor.

Started a new high school in year 8 and had spend a year learning German. They put me in the French class instead of German and the French teacher was so angry that I didn't know the French for "eyes" that he shouted it at me multiple times whilst spittle was going all over my face.

Again PE.. running 1000m and trust me I was not a runner. Hated running. Always have. I was 10m from the end and my foot got stuck in a little duvet and I fell and twisted my ankle. The horrible horrible PE teacher hauled me up by my elbow bruising all the top of my arm and demanded I did the full 1000m again as a punishment for not fastening my trainers properly. I was a very quiet 14 year old but I told her to go duck herself and went straight home. Never saw any consequences to that so I wonder if she realised she was being a massive bitch!

I dont really have many good memories of secondary school! it was an OK school, but quite big and I'd come from a tiny rural school (approx 30 kids total). I was shy, awkward and uncool and became more and more anxious all the way through those 6 years. a lot of the 'cool kids' picked on me, one girl always used to call me 'boy' - not sure why, maybe because I didnt have boobs in first year. many teachers seemed to prefer the cool kids and so I just felt out of place. I did have friends but still look back now and realise how unhappy and anxious I was.

I remember not long after going up to secondary school, so I would have been 12 or 13, I had become aware of an older boy that apparently 'fancied me' and in the corridor between classes, him and his friend happened to be behind me and he pointed me out to his friend, who said 'why would you want her, she has no boobs". just awful.
