DD wants to learn to drive but going away for uni

DD is 17 at the minute and is worried about learning to drive with backlogs.
She also wants to move away for uni so while at uni, she will not be able to run a car (she knows it will be expensive and some unis have limited car spaces while at uni) therefore she may forget how to drive by the time she finishes uni if she learns to drive now.
She may learn after uni at 21 but then she will be looking for a graduate job and practice time would be limited.
What does everyone reccomend?

My DD passed before uni. She is in her first year as a nurse and is taking her car with her next term. Her first placement is over an hour from her uni accommodation on public transport (that's if they run on time). Having her car will more than half her travel time.

I'd definitely encourage her to get it done now. I learnt to drive when I was 18 and in upper sixth (over 10 years ago), passing a month before uni. I had a few refresher lessons after uni (for confidence rather than forgetting!) and have been driving happily since. Most of my friends who waited are still yet to pass. Life gets in the way: work, children, health etc. I'd especially encourage it if living of planning to live rurally!
