Please recommend me a light, cordless vacuum!

We live in a small cottage and our Henry hoover is just way too heavy to cart up and down the stairs. I want to get a cordless handheld dyson for whipping out to do the stairs as and when, but also will need a proper vacuum cleaner for larger areas (not that they are very large though)!

Ideally it would also be cordless but longer for reaching up high for cobwebs, and vacuuming bedroom floors etc. We do have a dog and a cat! Somehow the pet attachments to the Henry never seemed to be any different to the normal attachments though, so I'm not sure what difference that makes.

Upstairs is carpet and downstairs is wood floor.

Is the Shark one any good?
All recommendations very welcome Thanks

I have a Dyson v7 absolute which it's brilliant for me
I am disabled and vacuuming is quick and literally painless
Various attachments and it converts to a handheld

Which Shark please *@BornOnTwelfthNight*? I’m flipping back and forth between Shark & Dyson.

Was always a huge Dyson fan then 2 broke in quick succession and customer services were really unhelpful for getting spares - battery for handheld was obsolete type stuff. Got a Shark corded and been really pleased with it but Which seem to suggest their cordless aren’t as good as Dyson…

Mine is the Shark Duo Clean Cordless with anti hair wrap and pet attachments. It’s the best hoover I’ve ever owned. The battery lasts for about 40 minutes on a single charge, enough to do my whole house whereas I was lucky to get 10 minutes out of the Dyson.

I can’t remember what model Dyson I had (was a pet one though) but the suction was crap, it wouldn’t actually pick up pet hair and human hair would get tangled in the brush constantly so I would have to go over carpets with a brush beforehand. It also wouldn’t pick up anything bigger than a very small stone, it’d just pick it up and spit it back out.
It would block up every few minutes and emptying the dust canister was a nightmare, dust and fluff would get stuck up the sides so would need a knife to clear it!

The shark picks up everything in its path, the anti hair wrap is a godsend, and emptying it is really easy - nothing gets stuck!
I also love the little headlights as you can see if you’ve missed anything.

I can’t rate it enough, but have heard others say they don’t get on with it, I’ve honestly never had any problems.

We have two cats and a dog... all very sheddy critters.
I swear by my trusty Miele upstairs where it's carpetted.
But lifechanging for me has been the Eufy robovac downstairs (hardwood and tile). It was fellow MNers who raved about the Eufy and swore it was lifechanging and they were not wrong.
For me, it's been a game changer having a robovac. And downstairs is really where we live. I can hoover once a week upstairs and deal with that just fine. But I must hoover daily downstairs because of the pets and also the neighbours around me who always have building works going on. I've lived in this house for 8 years and I don't really know what a day without a pneumatic drill doesn't sound like. Lots of dust in my home courtesy of all the tarted up homes around me.
So between the dust and the pets, the Eufy has been a game changer for me.

We have a Beko. I think it was about £250, maybe less. It has loads of attachments for ceilings, edges, stairs and has a bendy hose too, to get under sofas and chairs. It has headlights so you can see bits in dark corners and a warp speed if needed. Battery life is fine; it’s never run out on me anyway.

The only slight criticism I have is that you need to empty it every day because the cylinder isn’t massive. It’s easy to open and empty though, so not a problem. We had a new carpet this year, which she loads of fluff for ages, so it will be easier on hard floors.

Late to the party but we love our gtech

Yeah I have a gtech too but I'm not sure how good it really is on carpet. Great on wooden floors but I'll be replacing it when we move
