Any recommendations? We’re only a family of 3 but would like extra space for camping/ driving holidays and ferrying DS’ friends around when he’s older. We’re currently looking at the Kia e-niro or Audi Q4 and likely to run it into the ground rather than upgrade.

@AuntyMabelandPippin

Maybe it depends where you are but we have quite a lot of free chargers near us. From Chargeplace

We tested out an EV by getting DH an e-Corsa. It's fine and I'm looking at the id3 or e-Niro once I get my bonus this month (yay!). I don't want it until the summer so not concerned about the wait but Vauxhall only has a 2 week wait if anyone is looking for something available quickly.

Bumping this thread as I’ve been told now to expect to wait at least 10 more months for the Q4 we ordered at the beginning of the year. Would anyone recommend the Tesla Y? I’ve also looked at the XC40 but it appears they haven’t innovated the petrol version, only put a battery in it, so it’s behind other cars designed specifically to be EVs.

That’s disappointing. Look at the bmwix3- I think mine is brilliant.
Couldnt give money to Musk, personally, so no teslas for me.

@mobear my partner has just got model y. Much bigger than my Tesla. It's lovely.

mobear · 24/11/2022 01:03

@spellingtest Thanks! I ended up ordering the Model Y. It’s due next month 😊

We adore our Volkswagen ID4, like you we’re a family of 3 (people) but we have a Labrador so need the boot space for him.

Caspianberg · 24/11/2022 09:19

We looked at Tesla y. But the middle seat is classified as ‘ a temporary’ so not suitable for car seat or adult sitting more than quickly picking someone up locally.

We needed 5 proper seats, so went for id4. Family visited recently and we had rear facing toddler car seat and two adults comfortably in back for 2hr drives from airport , plus pram and Suitcases in boot easily

Caspianberg · 24/11/2022 09:22

This is the back of Tesla y. So if your short and sit in middle ( like me), my shoulders basically sat in the hole at the back of seat when head rest up.

@Caspianberg I had not noticed that! But we’ll probably rarely use the middle seat anyway.
