What do you have for breakfast if you leave early for work?

I tens to just grab a cuppa but then I get the munchies at work, eat my lunch too early then I'm into the biscuits and crap all afternoon

I want to break this habit but I'm pushed for time on a morning. We're up and out for 7.15, ds has breakfast at either my parent's or at Breakfast Club

Something I could prep the night before and take with me maybe?

I’m out the door at 6.40 and have a protein quark style yoghurt before I leave, then around 9 I have fruit or a cereal bar.

SockQueen · 29/12/2021 13:15

I leave my house at 6am. I do intermittent fasting (roughly 18:6) so don't eat till lunchtime, just take a flask of black coffee. Honestly feel less hungry in the day doing this than when I used to shovel a bowl of cereal in.

WeAllHaveWings · 29/12/2021 13:15

Porridge and banana. Measure oats/milk night before and it takes less than 5 mins to zap and put in a food flask or you can microwave at work if you get a quick morning break.

Am I the only one where breakfast/the first meal of the day triggers a dash to the bathroom? This is why I always eat breakfast at home.

icedcoffees · 29/12/2021 13:22

Toast, a cup of coffee and a glass of smoothie.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 29/12/2021 13:22

I take overnight oats to work in a plastic pot.

Aposterhasnoname · 29/12/2021 13:25

DH makes porridge while I’m
In the shower, then I get the lunches in bagels and load the dishwasher while he’s in the shower.

FlamesEmbersAshes · 29/12/2021 13:26

I have to leave the same time as you and I generally just have a coffee. I take a banana and a cereal bar to work and have them at break time (I work in education).

BaronessBomburst · 29/12/2021 13:32

I take Greek yoghurt with cinnamon in a wide jam jar. It's got a good screw top lid so doesn't leak if it falls over in my bag. I just chuck in a handful of walnuts or sunflower seeds when I get to work to make it more filling. I usually hold out until 13:30 before I have to start on my lunch.

Jabbawasarollingstone · 29/12/2021 13:39

If I'm on earlies I'm out of the door at 5.30am but still manage a bowl of muesli and a cup of tea before I go. It usually lasts me until my break at 11am.

I'm also convinced drinking lots of water helps to keep me fuller for longer. I don't know if there's any science to it though.

midsomermurderess · 29/12/2021 13:42

I think porridge is a good shout. Cut a banana through it, 2 minutes in the microwave, good to go.

NameChangeCity123 · 29/12/2021 14:32

Weetabix and coffee

Blueuggboots · 29/12/2021 14:36

Oats, chia seeds, blueberries, cinnamon and nutmeg with oat milk, make it the night before then eat it at work.

SadSplinter · 29/12/2021 14:38

I take a high-protein yoghurt pouch to work with me and have that a bit later on. I leave the house at seven and don’t want to eat before that.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 29/12/2021 14:40

Protein shake. Can't stomach solid food before midday.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 29/12/2021 15:40

I would take porridge or a couple of slices of home made frittata to work for breakfast.

Marmelace · 29/12/2021 15:42

Chia porridge which I do overnight.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 29/12/2021 23:55

Porridge most mornings, the lazy sachet type! I microwave it, add some banana or raspberries and peanut butter and let it cool a bit while I finish doing something else
If pushed for time massively then a protein shake and sometimes just throw the sachet of oats in it too

mindutopia · 30/12/2021 00:01

I used to take a sandwich/bagel or overnight oats to eat on the train. Out the door on those days usually 5:50am. I’d just have a coffee at home, then take a coffee in a flask, plus breakfast (as above) for train or just when I got to the office.

Lacedwithgrace · 30/12/2021 00:19

I WFH and start at 6.30 so grab a coffee and keep a stash of granola bars in my office, then at 8.30 when my colleagues start work I have a 10 minute break where I get toast and a pre-prepared bowl of fruit or a yoghurt. I prefer to have lots of small items of food than one big thing and couldn't stomach a whole bowl of porridge

Champagneforeveryone · 30/12/2021 02:39

I have a small Kilner jar that I put all the ingredients for an omelette in the night before. When I come down I stick a knob of butter in the pan, shake the jar and whack it in. By the time I've let DDogs out, made a drink etc it's ready.

I normally only use one egg as my breaks are timed so that I can have a breakfast at about 9am, but it's a really good filler and sees me through till then.

Champagneforeveryone · 30/12/2021 02:42

I am also a dedicated user of those breakfast shakes. Mostly only after a night shift (as they fill me up without being too heavy while I sleep) as I'm sure they're full of a range of unhealthy shite

RedHot22 · 30/12/2021 02:44

Overnight oats

Blossom64265 · 30/12/2021 02:53

When I had to be out the door early I would do coffee and then pack a breakfast to eat at work. I had a private office so eating at my desk wasn’t really an issue. I took a mixture of things, but all were made in advance and just grab and go. At most I needed to reheat in the office microwave.
