Following on from the goals thread, what have you done this year that you are proud of?.

Foe me, I have a new job which was a promotion. I've started a new qualification through said job and we have moved house. The kids have had a good year I think, with a few minor wobbles now they are both teenagers.

Got a new job after a VERY long time as SAHM 🤩

CaptainChannel · 27/12/2021 08:19

Moved back to the UK and successfully settled the DC into a new school.
Became a finalist in a national competition which was amazing.
Sold our house and had an offer accepted on a lovely new one.
Not too bad all in all.

FlamingGoat · 27/12/2021 08:19

I ran the London Marathon after only starting running a year ago!🏃‍♀️👟💪

And I didn't kill my husband during furlough so a huge win there too! 😉

Agadorsparticus · 27/12/2021 08:21

Sold our house for more than we'd ever expected.

Passed 3 tough exams.

Quit Vaping.

ChoccySprinkles · 27/12/2021 08:22

I became cancer free. Made some mortgage overpayments. Survived.

Sunsetsupernova · 27/12/2021 08:24

Got a new job where I am paid slightly less but a million times happier than I was before.
Saved a lot for our house deposit so we should hopefully be able to buy in 2022
All things considered, still managed some lovely holidays and times with family and friends

thismeansnothing · 27/12/2021 08:25

In the summer we Managed to sell our house and move into something bigger. We were aiming to put it on the market October this year. But for once covid, working from home and the housing market skyrocketing in our area worked in our favour and we managed to do it alot earlier than we planned. It wasn't easy and nearly weren't belly up a few times

FlamingGoat · 27/12/2021 08:26

@ChoccySprinkles

Cancer free is amazing news. 👏
Marmite27 · 27/12/2021 08:27

I survived it.

January - MIL’s best friend and close family friend died.
February - my Aunt died
April - FIL diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
July - Youngest started fitting all lost control of her left side, they thought it was a stroke at 5yo. (Fine now thankfully)
August - car crashed into our front garden, taking out the wall, hedge and narrowly missing the house.
September - FIL died
October - Friend from school died
November - second unrelated friend from school died
December - Parents old neighbour died, friend from school’s mum died on Christmas Eve.

I’m hoping 2022 is calmer.

Failed (yet) another interview for promotion.

Didn't get legislation passed, even failed to get it written fully by the end of the year...although that's not my fault.

Failed to get dd the help, she needs for her SNs and teenage development clashing, which we started in February, I have made so many phone calls to chase, and had an appointment (finally) arranged for last Monday but had to cancel due to close contact in school.

Although, in the plus side, I kept the family intact despite everything.

The legislation will be finished writing next week and we'll bring it through parliament very quickly then.

My Cub Scouts got back to meeting in person in may as soon as Lock Down allowed it and we managed to get away for both 2 nights camping in tents in June and a night hosteling in November. When many packs locally hadn't even met remotely from feb '20 to oct '21. (We got going remotely in apr 20 and met in person from sept until Dec 20, and again remotely from Jan 21 until may).

I've discovered I love diy and doing home improvements.
I've painted all my kitchen cupboards, done some panelling and pretty much decorated all of my 5 bed house. Just two rooms left to do in the new year.

LordoftheDanceSaidHe · 27/12/2021 08:47

I changed job after being pushed out (along with all my dedicated good colleagues) from the charity we'd given 20 years to. The new job isn't my dream like my old one was before it became unbearable but I've surprised myself with what I'm capable of and done well. I'm determined to be less stressed in 2022 though.

It's been a shit year with Covid. Family were infected and My Ds has long covid and it's been very difficult. But he's hopefully getting better.

We went on holiday which was amazing and our dog has been an incredible addition to the family, just when we needed her most. So lots to be thankful for.

Pheebs2021 · 27/12/2021 08:53

We conceived a much dreamed of baby.

Managed to get an holiday in.

(So far) were leaving 2021 with the loved ones we started the year with.

Puffykins · 27/12/2021 08:57

Sold the flat in London we'd lived in for 12 years, bought a much bigger house on the coast, for less than we sold our flat for, that we're renovating - I did the children's bedrooms first, then the downstairs rooms, and we had Christmas here with it feeling like home.
I got a new job, which is my dream job, and I love it (and mostly work from home, which is ideal.)
The DCs started new schools in a new town in September, knowing no one - and have also started new ballet, new drama etc. - and have made friends and last night told me that - although they miss their other friends (who we still see, just not as often) - they're now as happy as they were in London.
I have made some new friends and have been invited to join a book group etc.
I'm still swimming in the sea, in December.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 27/12/2021 09:05

Started a new job on the other side of the country and bought a lovely new house.
Survived my divorce to a man I'd been married to for 20 years and mistakenly thought was my soul mate.
Made a huge amount of money buying and selling in the right areas at just the right time and was able to pay off all my divorce debts and end up as I started off in the first place pre-divorce.
Aced my new job.
Finally got a diagnosis and treatment of my mental health condition after 40 years and feel fantastic.
Realised I don't need a man to be happy. Watched my ex totally fuck up his life without me to sort everything out.
Made loads of new friends in the lovely area I'm living in.
DS and Dil have decided to come and live with me for a better life, they are fed up with the south east.
I survived covid in the NHS without ever getting sick.
After years of grief I feel I've finally made it.

LyraVega · 27/12/2021 09:09

What a nice idea for a thread!

My main one is that we found out I was pregnant with our much wanted baby! Now 36 weeks.

I also got a promotion and payrise this year not long after finding out I was pregnant, and my DH got a new job and payrise too.

Decaffe · 27/12/2021 09:10

Nothing, unfortunately. It has been a year of loss, heartbreak, stress and disappointment.

CherryAndAlmond · 27/12/2021 09:12

Great idea for a thread after what has been a tough year for so many...

Realised I needed antidepressants - feel so much better.
Got a new job which I love.
Started swimming.
Helped my HFA son through his GCSEs/homeschool.

userxx · 27/12/2021 09:13

Lamont77 · 27/12/2021 09:16

Congrats OP!

I got a new job, which I'm really enjoying.

Not really an achievement/goal, but I also got engaged and get married next year which is exciting Grin

Feelingoood · 27/12/2021 09:20

Well done airyfairy can I ask how? And any tips?!
Bit desperate here.

mamaduckbone · 27/12/2021 09:23

Moving house...we ended up in what was meant to be our starter home for 15 years and first started trying to move in September 2019 - finally got there in August 2021!
