There are so many threads about the useless ones, can we have a thread about the good ones.

I'll start. Some lovely thoughtful presents. I'm unwell and not able to do lots. He genuinely doesn't mind taking over and letting me rest. Lots of gentle hugs and cups of tea coming my way.

Anyone else with good reports to make?

Mine is cooking Christmas dinner and singing along to winter Wonderland. Is the best dad and grandad, but is my best pal.

Forty one years married and I'm more in love with him today than all the yesterdays. Keeps getting better. He's also incredibly easy on the eyes, and still gives me the wobbles 😊

Confusedandworried321 · 25/12/2021 21:28

Oh my goodness, mine, mine!

He got me a very expensive, thoughtful gift as a complete surprise - I’d only gotten him what he’d asked for, we’d agreed a budget which we always do.

He cooked dinner for us and my family. He did most of the tidying this afternoon. And he’s been a big support when I’ve felt like having my own meltdown about our challenging DC.

Buytoomuchonebay · 25/12/2021 22:26

Somebody in rl asked me what I saw in my dp

My answer?

‘If I rang him right now and told him I’d killed somebody, his second question would be ‘where do you want to bury the body?’

He’s always got my back,is kind, thoughtful, sexy, supportive and just a good egg

We’ve been through it all and have come out of the other side

It’s a long story but my son went missing last week-we where all worried sick about him,but he calmed me down, worried about him and me,he sat up all night with me-holding my hand while I was on the phone to the police (who refused to even think about doing a welfare check) and got me a lovely bunch of flowers-son showed up the next day

He’s crap at buying presents, can be ‘careful’ with his wallet and can be thoughtless at times but I just tell him he’s being a dick and it does sink in-nobody is perfect-least of all me

I wouldn’t be without him

Love and hugs. We went through this a number of times a few years ago with our eldest. How my DH carried me through that period is beyond me especially as I was on antidepressants at the time and not totally reasonable all of the time.

Sounds like you have a good egg there!

P.s if it happenes again and you need a friendly supportive ear please don't hesitate to PM me. We have been through the worst of times and got through it relatively intact x

Mines a keeper too x

DH and I shared the cooking today. Well, I actually think on balance he did more. He did all the prep & tidying up & cooked the Turkey and roasties. I just did the trimmings & made the deserts.

He's played with the kids all day, got ms some lovely surprise presents. He's had just one beer, put a nice film on & generally been a joy to be with.

Oh and he even said my Xmas cake was nice, even tho tbh it's a bit dry! Lol

He's absolutely a gentleman & I am very grateful and lucky to have him

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 25/12/2021 23:36

I will add my lovely DH. He got our DD some lovely presents. Really thoughtful ones. He also got me an echo show, and a charger for my phone and Apple Watch, a new watch strap and Amazon voucher as dd wanted to buy me a book but I read on my kindle. All stuff I had mentioned in the past. He went for a meal with us and my brother then came to the care home where my mum is currently to try to make their Xmas days a bit better. He's been awesome. First Christmas married. We're going to spend tomorrow with his siblings.

DivorcedAndDelighted · 25/12/2021 23:45

Love reading this thread. My marriage didn't work out that way, but it's great to see couples who obviously love, respect and care for each other. It's a wonderful achievement, to have such a good relationship, and it's great to read these posts and know that you really appreciate what (and who!) you have.
No amount of money can buy a genuine great relationship. Well done.

Autumnscene · 25/12/2021 23:47

my man is fabulous too. he cooked christmas breakfast, lunch, and eve buffet and provided snacks and champagne too. Gave me amazing presents, and he makes me laugh a lot. He’s always on the go, and helps neighbours and anyone with car/house problems, everyone relies on him !

RJnomore1 · 25/12/2021 23:54

Mines is snoring on the couch next to me. He’s just great, drives me mad at times after 23 years but he treats me so well.

caringcarer · 26/12/2021 00:51

I'm do lucky and grateful for how thoughtful and kind my dh is. He brings me a pot of tea and a bone china cup every morning in bed. My adult son came Xmas Eve and s
will be going back to his home Boxing day tea time. DH knows I miss him since he moved further away and I don't see him very often now and so he insisted on prepping all of the veg for both Xmas Eve meal and Xmas dinner so I could sit and catch up with my son. We have a 15 year old and he thought up some great gifts for him including a curry making kit with a book of curry recipes and loads of spices. He dealt with a lot of the pressies this year as I have been a bit unwell with my back. After lunch today he cleared up table and loaded dishwasher after lunch whilst bringing me in another bottle of wine. He got me lovely gifts including a pair of kudd.ly microwave slipper bootees as I get cold feet. He always goes the extra mile with my family and I love him to bits.

Ilovefluffysheep · 26/12/2021 09:09

I have a medical condition that basically leaves me feeling exhausted all the time a lot of it. My DH is incredible, and looks after me every day of the year, whilst still bizarrely thinking I'm the most amazing woman in the world. Clearly he's mad!

We had our Christmas meal on Christmas Eve, as my adult son was working Christmas Day. He cooked it all (as he does every day), and it was beautiful. Entertained my ex in-laws (I was a single parent for 15 years and used to spend every Christmas Day with them), and treats my grown up kids and their partners as his own.

I feel so guilty that he does so much, but he truly doesn't mind. He thinks he's the lucky one having me. I think he's crackers, and I absolutely adore him. We've been together 5 years now, and I feel like the luckiest and most loved woman ever. I just wish I could feel a bit better so I could do a bit more.

MimiDaisy11 · 26/12/2021 09:18

DP has been great. We have a baby and he’s been doing all the housework. When I go to bed when baby falls asleep he stays up and tidies and cleans the house. It’s made things much easier. He also takes baby in the morning if the night hasn’t been great. He’s always popping in when working from home to check if I need help with anything.

rwalker · 26/12/2021 09:22

Can't understand why this post hasn't been reported and deleted it's not in the usual spirt of the MN lol

Nidan2Sandan · 26/12/2021 09:28

DH really does so much for me, and would happily run around like a blue arsed fly to make sure that I'm relaxing.

I've been unwell this year, and worked right up to xmas. DH has done more housework than I do all year, then xmas day he dealt with the overexcited kids who got up at 1am, he cooked our xmas buffet, kept my drink topped up & got me lovely presents.

But he's a star all year round (mostly, he has his moments Xmas Wink ) and I am head over heels in love with him still 16 years later.

nobodysdaughter · 26/12/2021 09:38

Mine is sleeping right now. He's been working 6days a week to help us get a mortgage, in a hard physical, yet well paid job.
After years of being with men who took advantage of me being a grafter, and sitting in their arses whilst I was making the money, I feel very lucky.
Oh and he's a funny, kind family orientated guy, who's always been understanding and supportive of my long term mental health issues.

BigFatLiar · 26/12/2021 09:44

He's the best. Loves me so obviously has good taste. Is a great dad and grandad. Has always put me first (or second when the girls were little). We're both retired now and volunteer, if I call and say I'm on the way home on a cold day I'll find a warm bath, wine, chocolates waiting with pj's on the heater keeping warm. He's always encouraged us (me and the girls) to do our best and not to accept people saying we should make do.

EewwwDavid · 26/12/2021 09:57

Mine is lovely. Makes a huge deal out of my achievements, got me really thoughtful gifts, always wants to ensure I'm happy or having a good time, we split all chores, childcare and money completely fairly and equally, is interested (or at least acts like he is!) in my interests and hobbies. He always seems to put me first. No red flags, no annoying hobbies like playing computer games or cycling (sorry to gamers and cyclists!) and his vices are the odd craft beer or the gym, which is easy enough to live with!
He isn't perfect of course, and we've had our ups and downs, but he's a good'un. We've been together 12 years.

StarfishDish · 26/12/2021 10:12

My husband is amazing to say the least. He's a fantastic Daddy to our baby girl and I honestly don't think he realises how truly wonderful he actually is 🥰

BabyBunnyMama · 26/12/2021 10:22

Probably a long one that nobody else will read but it was actually nice to write it down and realise how much I couldn't have managed Christmas without him! He's an angel and definitely earned a boxing day lie in 😆

My DH has been amazing, I really probably don't give him enough credit. He made all the food for Christmas day by himself, cleaned up the kitchen after and delivered it all down to my mum's house (she was hosting as I am heavily pregnant so didn't want to host this year), done a few runarounds getting last minute bits and getting our DD's presents home for me to wrap and set up. Spent Christmas morning playing with our 2 year old DD when I got a bit sore and dozed off on the sofa. Then when she went for a nap helped me tidy away the chaos of the morning and encouraged me to go lie down before we had to go out. He was great at Christmas Dinner and even diffused a few potentially awkward conversations around the table between my family members and made things a little more light hearted. Didn't drink so he could drive us there and back as the weather was bad (mums is a 15 minute walk away so had planned on walking) and then came home and changed our bed and tidied up DD's toys while I put her to bed.

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 26/12/2021 10:30

My DH has been wonderful. Running around doing all the tasks i need for the past few days, gave me his bonus to spend on the kids and wider family, cleaned the kitchen spotlessly after I destroyed it and entertaining everyone. It's been a chilled out Xmas and he's just an amazing husband dad and person
