Anyone got older kids that haven't been bothered tonight?

:(

Youngest is 11, eldest 18.

No one wanted to watch Xmas film with me. Groans at family photos.

They went upstairs without putting mince pies down for Santa,

Just feeling a bit sad.

If you have little ones cherish the magic. It doesn't last forever :(

PS, they're good kids. Not ungrateful, just... growing up.

I just sent my17 yr old to go chew the carrot up and spray it over the patio

Although still have a 8 year old who has done all the traditions without being prompted.... I think we all know it's the last year

Did bit of carrot crunching myself tonight too!

Our teens are 17 & 18. They were keen to watch Polar Express this evening as it's a family tradition. At bedtime they'll want 'A Very Special Christmas' read to them as, again, it's tradition. DD1 wanted to put a carrot and sherry out for Santa, but I forgot to get both Blush

Thatsplentyjack · 24/12/2021 22:16

My eldest is nearly 14 so he's not really interested. The now 8 year old was showing signs of not believing last year, and this year made me tell him the truth. He still does some things but not interested in others, so I just had another baby 🤣 keep the magic going.

wakeuphw · 24/12/2021 22:17

12 and 15 here. I've practically had to force them to spend time with me. It's quite sad really.

WhatAHexIGotInto · 24/12/2021 22:19

DS (almost 18) not interested, though he has spent the night downstairs with us. DD (15) watched Elf with us but yes, it's different as they get older.

I'm leaving a mince pie and a carrot out anyway. 😂

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 24/12/2021 22:22

Mine are 11 and 14, and I am quite relieved not to have been doing the Santa charade (there will still be stockings, obviously. I'm not a monster).

We did watch Carols from Kings and The Muppet Christmas Carol together, which was nice.

RevolvingPivot · 24/12/2021 22:24

Me and they are only 9 and 11.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/12/2021 22:25

Managed to get DS13 to watch Die Hard with me

Thickasmincepie · 24/12/2021 22:25

Dc is yr 7 and keeps saying they don't feel xmassy. But it's that strange age where the magic has kind of gone and you have to find a new way of looking at it.

RevolvingPivot · 24/12/2021 22:26

I've had hot chocolate and Christmas stuff out all week. Wouldn't watch a film tonight either. I feel 9 is a bit young.

This is my first Christmas for a few years with no Santa believers. It's easier in a lot of ways as you don't need to do the whole Santa thing. But it was cute when they were younger. I'm hoping DS3 doesn't tell his cousin the truth as he still believes in Santa despite being a year older.

Bigassbeebuzzbuzz · 24/12/2021 22:31

I know that feeling although I did manage to get a family photo and bizzarly ds2 (12) left mince pie and milk for santa who he keeps telling me isnt real not sure if hes just done that to humour me though Xmas Grin

Crabapple04 · 24/12/2021 22:34

The just turned 11 year old got the carrot, mince pie and sherry and then put the "Santa stop here" sign out. Slight change was that she read the "Night before Christmas" instead of me. Got to be the last timeXmas Sad Obvs did it because it has to be done....13 year old sat down for dinner with us but have barely seen him today. Now waiting to do stockings😩

RoseMartha · 24/12/2021 22:37

13 and 14 not interested in watching a movie. And made fun of me after dinner when I watched Carols from Kings.

14 year old has asd and was extremely hyper most the evening.

Did manage to get them to play a couple of board games for an hour, which I thought was good going. While we played the games they wanted to listen to stuff I don't want to listen to on you tube ( Mainly rap or alternative music with heavy swearing and slurs in). After giving them a chance to put something decent on, I ended up taking the remote and putting one of the Christmas music channels on while we played the games. 🙄

BitcherOfBlakiven · 24/12/2021 22:39

DDs are 13/11/5.

Eldest two have loved doing all the Santa things with the youngest. If I’m being brutally honest, I’m bloody bored of it now, having started it 12 years ago Blush But it’s lovely to watch them do it with her (because apparently grown ups don’t do Santa things!).

Once DD was fast asleep, we made hot chocolates, watched Home Alone 2, I sent them to bed at 10pm and I’ve just finished carting the presents downstairs.

Datsandcogs · 24/12/2021 22:39

Mine no longer believe, but I still insist on Christmas Eve PJs and photos by the fireplace and they humour me, then they fill each other’s sacks.

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 24/12/2021 22:41

Mine have suddenly decided they want to help me cook Christmas Dinner. So, they're all doing the prep with some White Claws and I'm lay on the sofa, listening to them and happy. There are some great parts about your children growing up!

thefourgp · 24/12/2021 22:44

It’s the first year my kids don’t believe in Santa. It’ll still be a good day but it takes away some of the excitement and magic.

justasking111 · 24/12/2021 22:44

So organized here I used to be sneaking around at midnight finishing wrapping, putting presents out now I'm sitting here watching 1979 hits. It'll still be mad tomorrow cooking welcoming family especially appreciated after the misery of covid last Xmas

MousesBack · 24/12/2021 22:46

One is in the pub, the other one is grumpy because she's not (quite) old enough to go to the pub! Santa is going to have to come back at dawn if he wants to catch them both asleep.

friedeggandsauce · 24/12/2021 22:48

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

Dd 15 still wants to leave a mince pie and have The Night Before Christmas’ read to herGrin
Same here! Mine are 15 and 13 and they still like to have their picture taken, sort out stockings and leave a mince pie 🙄🤣
sofakingcool · 24/12/2021 22:50

Two sons aged 13 & 18 - they both came out for a lunch with me. DS1 now at work and DS2 has spent the evening on and off with us which is a result!

He doesn't believe anymore, so no putting out things for Santa etc Sad

dementedma · 24/12/2021 22:51

Mine have played a musical theatre quiz game and got drunk. Not bothered about to morrows stockings and said they'll get them when they wake up "whenever". Ds stocking is done. Dds stuff is still in a carrier bag which is what she will get tomorrow as she couldnt be arsed to look out her stocking. Dh is working. Its all just a bit crap really.
