Christmas films for young children

DD is just turned 2. Obsessed with Bluey, Bing and Hey Duggee. Successfully watched (and partly slept through) Muppets Christmas Carol at the weekend. Are there any Christmas films likely to hold her attention this year or should we wait until next year?

We did watch Stickman the other day as she loves the book and we've seen a few of the others - good shout Smile The Snowman is a good idea, there's a Snowman trail near us that I might try next week so good prep!

BarryBob77 · 23/12/2021 16:45

We love Arthur Christmas in our house at the moment 😊.

BarryBob77 · 23/12/2021 16:47

Also, there is a lovely film called Star on Prime which is the nativity story from the point of view of the animals.

Tablefor4 · 23/12/2021 16:47

Love Arthur Christmas!

Not hugely Christmassy but DS loves The Tiger who came to Tea, they played it last Christmas Day (I think it’s on I Player).

The Aardman films (Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep) are also good Christmas viewing. Shaun the Sheep has a Christmas themed special this year and there’s an older one called Robbie the Reindeer.

At that age DS (now 3) was entranced with the Mr Bean Christmas special. I think because it’s all physical comedy they can follow along a bit. When he plays with the nativity scene (bringing in a tank and airlifting the angel in a chopper) DS started laughing!

DD got upset last time I tried to show her the tiger who came to tea, she loves the book though Confused she laughs like a drain whenever anything silly happens or if someone gets hurt so Mr Bean might be her level (that or Home Alone but that may not be setting the right tone Grin)

Bob's White Christmas was a favourite when my boys were little

We all still love Arthur Christmas

And Nativity 1, 2 and 3 are all great too. My kids especially love them.

Nomorecoco · 24/12/2021 22:03

Do you have Disney+? Theres quite a lot of short Disney films, like mickey mouse, winnie the pooh, Christmas versions.
Other than them we've really struggled for our near 2 year old too. She's not interested in live action which there is a lot of but not many animated films.

Danikm151 · 24/12/2021 22:03

Arthur Christmas definitely is a good shout.
Angela’s christmas wish
Jingle jangle- won’t sit for all of it but dancing with the songs etc

Mickey mouse Christmas episodes on disney plus

doadeer · 24/12/2021 22:20

doadeer · 24/12/2021 22:21

Biscuitandacuppa · 24/12/2021 22:24

Oh yes she did enjoy an old Mickey Mouse cartoon on Disney + where they're ice skating - laughed every time someone fell over/got hurt... only a little concerning Grin
