I know I'm a bore for mentioning this again but I like it so...tomorrow afternoon on Radio 4 at 3 o'clock.

I like it too. I'll be listening.

Aw, it marks the beginning of Christmas. It gives me shivers when Once in Royal David's City starts.

WildRosie · 23/12/2021 09:41

Likewise, Miles. My favourite carol.

DH and I always record carols from King's and watch when children asleep its the start of Christmas for us

Once in Royal davids City is my favourite Carol too

Hope I get to hear it. We'll be away staying with SIL so all bets are off.

WildRosie · 24/12/2021 15:02

Starting in a minute or two.

Apart from our hero soloist having a tricky moment singing OIRDS, it was great. I really enjoyed it. Same time next yearSmile.

I thought that. Not the right descent on Oh Come All Year Faithful, and even though they do it every year, the largest verse should not be sung til Christmas Day, so fine at the end of Midnight Mass. No Adam Lay Y Bounden this year though.

WildRosie · 24/12/2021 20:20

The soloist's voice wobbled at one point - shame for the young fellow but it really got my attention. Oh well. I'm sure he will live it down soon. I guess when you always have the same two carols at the end finding some way to make them a bit different gets more difficult. Stephen Cleobury must have struggled!

Was lovely.

I preferred David Willcocks and Philip Ledger to Stephen Cleobury. I don't want difference at the end with those two carols; those need to be the same with the proper descents, In Dulci Jubilo, and The Angel Gabriel from Heaven Came also need to be sung.

I used to queue to get in back in the 70s when I was a child, and managed it once. There was only room for one, so my Dad let me go in. It was the best Christmas Eve ever.
