Our cat feeder hasn’t been feeding our cats!

We’ve used the same person for about 4 years with what I thought was 0 issues. We go away for a week x5 times a year (normal times) to visit family and the place I’m from.

We’ve recently installed a video doorbell so get updates when someone goes in and out of the front door.

We left on Saturday and on Sunday the cat feeder turned up and spent 3 mins in the house. He hasn’t been back since!

I’m so shocked and annoyed that I trusted him. My poor cats. I always thought it was much nicer for them to stay in their own home and have someone come to feed and fuss them in their own home.

Luckily friends of ours have a spare key and have fed the cats yesterday and today. They’ve said they are happy to help until we get back too.

I need to write a message to tell him to F off but
In a less aggressive way. I hate confrontation but I really want and need to say something. We pay him a bloody day rate Angry

I agree. I don’t get all these posts justifying her cats being neglected and starved because he apparently wasn’t happy with the price they agreed upon. If the pays too little then you say so, you don’t take the pay and then leave animals to starve

Where has anyone justified her cats being neglected and starved? Confused

I think people are just saying that it's often the case that some services are cheap for a reason. Nobody is saying it's okay for him not to feed her cats but £8 per day isn't much and you won't (IMO) get good quality pet care for that kind of money, sadly.

Ours films the cats on each occasion and uploads it to his Facebook page. He’s v diligent about doing so. Maybe when you choose your next sitter you can insist they have some set up like this.

My cat sitter is amazing but she is obsessed with cats. My cats love her and she would never do this.

Your poor cats

Our ring doorbell sometimes, albeit rarely, misses things that we know about - like us coming home etc.

Not sure why it does this.

@WhatAHexIGotInto

This is such a shit thing to do to your pets!

I found out that my dog walker wasn't walking my dog (for £15 a day) when my friend was parked across the road from my house making a call and noticed that she went into my house and came back out less than a minute later and drove off. DDog's lead was always moved from where we kept it, so it looked like she went into the hallway, moved the lead and just left straight away.

Oh I'm so angry reading this Fcker

I told my neighbour that her dog walker wasn’t walking her dogs, I think it’s more common than people realise.

There are lots of cases of ring doorbells missing things.

I would always start with a question or query, not an accusation. This might look clear-cut but often things aren’t. Everyone should have a chance to explain and justify themselves. Although it’s likely that what Op thinks happened in terms of no feeding did, I’d want to be sure before firing or going ballistic.

And this isn’t in anyway justifying not feeding the cat.

But the internal motion sensor also didn't pick him up. They would both have had to miss him at the same time.

@CalmDownBoris72

How did things go when you confronted him about it? Did he admit it?

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 07/01/2022 06:57

Did you ever get hold of the cat sitter in the end @CalmDownBoris72?
