How do I get rid of black stains on my teeth

I have small black stains on my teeth. Every hygienist/dentist can't explain it - they say my teeth are good otherwise, and say the stains may be due to drinking tea, coffee or fizzy drinks. I tell them I don't drink any of those things, and they then say it could be some kind of bacteria which is just genetic. I've had these stains since my teen years but not since I was a child.

They tell me there isn't really a solution to the stains except for getting my teeth cleaned by the hygienist. That does the job, but you're only supposed to book appointments every 6 months (and I haven't been for much longer because of COVID!) and the stains appear before then. The dentists/hygienists usually don't recommend teeth whitening products to tackle this.

Does anyone have any advice on removing these stains? Thank you!!!!

@2022isanewyear. Post a pic of the stain if you can get a good close up shot of just your teeth and you don’t mind them being on show .
Interdental cleaning is as important as brushing, doesn’t make a difference if you use floss or interdental brushes just so long as you do all spaces with a thorough technique. I floss because it’s way cheaper , one pack lasts me a couple or 3 weeks rather than burning through a pack of brushes a week then forgetting to buy more. Blush

I used to have this problem too, the stains were in the grains of my teeth and mostly on the front ones. I don't drink wine or coffee either. Hygienist used to clean it away but it came back I'm a few weeks. I bought Colgate max white expert complete toothpaste, it's in a box. It made a difference within a few times of using and the stains had gone within a week. I use it all the time now.

My problem was yellow stains at the base of my teeth near the gums. I’d resigned myself to never getting rid until I tried Pro Complete Charcoal and it’s got rid of every bit of yellow and my teeth look fantastic. I get it from Tesco and it costs £1:25. At that price it’s well worth a try.

@RightsHoardingRaptor omg I have a Dremel, what a good idea... bit chickenshit, but did it really work?

Crest whitestrips, and also the crest 3d white toothpaste and mouthwash is great. The toothpaste is kind of grainy and keeps stains away for me.Also Colgate optic white is good, I'm in the US and it contains hydrogen peroxide but I don't the the UK version does.

Or you could get a set of the dental tools in boots and gently scratch the stains away with the hook thing?

@DeathOnTheNile

I've had this issue for years and was told it was to do with the bacterial environment in my mouth - like you I'm not a consumer of the main things that stain teeth. I've seen many different dentists but none of their tips worked.The last dentist I went to recommended chewing sugar-free gum to try and change the bacterial environment and so far, no staining! I chew at least a piece a day and I'm hoping it's cracked the mystery now. I know how annoying it is so I hope it helps you too.
Thanks for this, when do you chew the gum? After dinner before brushing teeth for example?
