I'm just curious. Ours (primary) always do books, from nursery up to year 6. It's also always books for prizes like Halloween altho Easter Bonnets is an Easter Egg

Y1 - a nice book
Y4 - a chocolate selection box (he's happy but all I see is excessive plastic waste)

DDs primary. No.

DDs nursery. Yes. Think it's a book ☺️

A pencil with a chrismassy rubber on top, little notebook & a candy cane. The kids were very happy with it.

'Father Christmas', courtesy of the HSA brings each class a gift or two, as chosen by the class teachers. These are for in school use.

Many of the teachers/TAs do give a small gift themselves. This is out of their own money and not school funded. It is usually something smallish like a pencil and eraser, or a small selection box, etc.

SmolCat · 21/12/2021 16:11

Another teacher here who’s never heard of PTA funded gifts. It’s always out of our own pockets.

The class teacher did give the kids some sweeties with their card which was lovely

Teacher here. I've always paid for the presents for my class. I normally get candy canes and rubbers or pencils. Not much but I have to buy 35.

DDs infant school always got them a book & selection box from Santa at the Christmas Fayre, plus usually a nice card from their teacher or a few sweets. She's just moved up to the junior school and they got nothing. Not even a non-uniform day. Very grinchy.

Ds (now finished college) still has his bendy pencil from his favourite teacher in year 3.
We have always had a small gift from the teachers.
Usually the things listed already.
Xmas pencil and rubber, mini notepad
Books
Haribo or chocolate
Printed and laminated bookmarks with personal quote for each kid.
Painted pine cones
Decorated biscuits

Oh no, uniform on the last day is the epitome of grinchy!! DS lives for non uniform days. We had jumper day Monday and out of uniform Friday so was the best week ever

This year and last year the PTA paid for Santa hats for the children to wear on Christmas lunch day, and they've also reused them for various other events too. From the teacher, they got a notebook.

I'm a teacher and always get my class a gift each, this year was a book and a chocolate lolly, it always comes out of our money though not the PTA so it depends on teacher

StrongerOrWeaker · 21/12/2021 21:52

A keyring and an ornament for the Xmas tree. Really wish they hadn't. Pointless plastic tat even my DC weren't remotely interested in.

35andThriving · 21/12/2021 21:54

A book. Ds loves reading so he was chuffed.

His class teacher also got him a little stationery set, a little maze toy and some chocolate. I assume this was all out her own pocket. I think it's really lovely and kind.
