I'm making a G.bread house today and annoyingly I'm a few hundred grams short of plain flour Hmm can I use SR or will it rise too much and distort the house windows and door?

These look amazing! Hats off to all you bakers. I bought a premade one from Aldi this year which the teenager decorated herself. Tasted God awful but there are only two of us so it never seems worth the hours of baking and assembling to do our own from scratch as it would go off before we ate it all.

@AintNobodyHereButUsChickens

I've never tried it either so fascinated to see it works in RL rather than on a cookery website iykwim? I don't know it scares me as I'll happily melt sugar for caramel decorations Confused.

@thnack thank you! Have screen shotted that as discovered only yesterday that DDs preference is for soft gingerbread.

OP that looks fantastic! I made my first attempt this year, I used Mary Berry's gingerbread recipe which was a crumbly unworkable nightmare but OK once baked.

Stunning pictures.

If I used self-raising flower it might 'raise the roof' in our house. I will get my coat.....
