Audible without a phone?

Is there any way that you can get audible books saved onto a device to play for children, without them have a device that has constant general internet access? Like how I image a kindle is for books (I don't have one)

Tablet, old phone or via pc

You could download them onto an older phone and then remove the sim, or onto a tablet and not give them their WiFi code.
I can listen to Audible through an app on our smart TV, don't know if that's an option?

You can still use the phone but just turn off the wifi and the data. How old is the kid in question? This would work with a 5 year old but not necessarily an 11 year old.

Thank you. Are there any radios where you can download content?

donutosaurus · 19/12/2021 15:38

You could get a yoto and use their make your own cards.

You own your audible books is just need to download them and then transfer them onto the cards (you can write to the cards as often as you want to). There are FB groups with detailed instruction on how to get audible content into the cards.

My 3 year old loves her yoto so much we just bought the mini too. I think I slightly prefer the mini due to battery and charger connection.

You can also buy cards preloaded with content. It's a growing company and new content is being added all the time.

My children love it (1 & 3).

Have a read of this: help.audible.co.uk/s/article/how-do-i-transfer-my-audiobook-to-my-mp3-player-on-windows-10

We had sandisk clip jams for the kids. Very basic but easy enough to add the audible files onto them via pc, and no games or internet access. I think it might be important to get an “audible-ready” MP3 player though.

donutosaurus · 19/12/2021 15:39

I should have said - the yoto requires Wi-Fi to download content to the device and to play the radio but that's it.

Talipesmum · 19/12/2021 15:40

The clip jams are good for travel - battery charge lasts for aaaaages and they’re tiny.

Also you can play audible content through echo dot etc if you join it up right.

Idontlikeworms · 19/12/2021 15:41

Mine have it on an echo dot in their room.

Maggiesgirl · 19/12/2021 15:44

My DGD listens to her Audible books through Alexa. It's set with Parental Controls in place so safe. She can also just ask for the book she wants.

Mittenmob · 19/12/2021 15:45

We gave an Alexa and use Amazon kids which means you can restrict which books they have access to, add parental controls and put time restrictions on. It's different to Amazon kids+ which is a paid for service.

StrictlySinging · 19/12/2021 15:45

They could listen though an echo dot gadget x
