16 year old DS walking home alone at half 8/9 oclock, would you be happy?

So he has always been a stay-at-home gaming type, but has suddenly found a love interest and is now out all the time! So maybe I just need to relax and get used to it. He is planning on leaving his girlfriend's house at half 8 to walk home, and whilst half 8 isn't that late, I'm just feeling a bit twitchy. Would you be ok with your 16 yo walking home at half 8/9? Do I just need to give myself a metaphorical slap?

He’s pretty much fully grown and that’s pretty early. It’s completely fine!

At 16 I was out much later than that.

At 16 I would walk home with dd(1) in her pram.

My 12yr old walks 10mins home from a friends house, or from his local athletics session at that time of night in London. He's never had a problem.

I guess it might depend where you live? But here, yes totally happy.

I'm absolutely fine with ds walking home at that time, but often if he's at a friend's house the parents won't let him and he ends up having to get an uber or they'll insist on driving him home. So it seems like it's not that unusual to worry about it.

It’s dark when they walk home if they stay at school late. There will still be plenty of people around at that time so don’t see an issue at all. I was getting night used home at that age across London.

My now 17 year old used to leave his dads at 2am (for 2 years to walk 2 miles home. It was a year before he told me. I understand your worries but he can live independently at 16 so for that reason I'd say you were unreasonably (although I would actually feel the same way I you)
