I had a crown fitted just over a week ago. My tooth was very sensitive in between the first and second appointments when I had the temporary filling (the bite was a bit high, but I didn't realise until later as my mouth was too numb).
The dentist said it may be the temporary filling, but may mean a problem with the nerve (the crown replaced a deep filling) so may need a root canal. She said to give it a couple of weeks after crown fitting to see if it improves.
A week later, sensitivity is improved vs the temporary filling, that got better the next day, but it's still there when I bite down on anything hard and doesn't seem to be getting better. It's totally manageable day to day, but there nonetheless. I'd like to give it another week, as want to give it a bit of time and hope for the best, but that puts us right up to Christmas and I know they're closed in between Christmas and New Year. I just wanted to check that if a root canal is needed it's ok to wait that long (I forgot about Christmas during my appointment as I was too nervous!)? Also, can they easily check that it's a root canal that is needed? It's proving really expensive and I'm really nervous and don't want unnecessary treatment.
I'll ring the dentist office for advice on Monday, but am worrying about it in the meantime so would be really grateful if anyone can give any advice.
